Please HELP eyes blurry on LCD monitors

No worries, I have a 21" HP CRT with Toshiba Diamondtron tube if you are interested @ R3k if you are interested ;)
 
this site seems alittle back dated, but it does help as to what is happening with the human eye and the LCD. Basically in the one part it says some people will notice the blurr at different MS's.Thats why some cant see it.
It also says some people can see flickering at different speeds. I must admit on the CRT i can see flickering well over 100 FPS, and i can see it clearly almost to notice the actual next frame loading in, makes it look like the game is always tearing. With like a few lines always scrolling down the screen, wich are the lines inbetween each loaded frame. Maybe not each, but atleast 3 or 4 lines if i need to look for it anytime i want.

So basically aswell, i am pretty screwed to find a LCD screen that is'nt going to blurr. I will try and look at a few non-commercial brands, If i have to pay alittle more, than i suppose its what i have to do.

Have you checked the monitor is set to to it's maximum refresh rate and that it is running its native resolution?

I can agree with this. When I played COD4 on my monitor the text was all blurry and was also hard to see when actually playing. Went into graphics settings and found it was sitting on 1024x768. Set it to 1920x1200 which is my native resolution and everything is now sharp and crystal clear

Dude, maybe like, lower the refresh rate of your brain? Or try finding a 120hz display and see what happens? Or try the new LED screens - different technology, maybe it'l help.
 
Ha, I've got a friend who has the exact same problem. His eyes become red and teary from normal LCD screens. He says he can actually see the screen flickering. He has to use LCD screens with a refresh rate of higher than 60 Hz. I think 75 Hz is fine for him.

Its not only text, its everything. Its like when you move fast movements in a game or evens slow ones, has the same effect that binoculers when they slightly out of focus, move left and right with that, same effect i get.

And its not that my eyes are so bad even the distance from my face and monitor i cant check lekker...lol. very close object i got eyes like a tiger, give me 10 metres and then i am an elephant

try control panel/performace information/adjust visual effects
and choose the best performance option If that solves your problem, reenable the choices until you get what you like.
 
you can test it out and see how your eyes are with images....get a screenshot of an image from a game(preferably) and move it around on your screen, fast slow up down around what ever..and see how much it blurrs for you or not.
 
I had a similar problem years ago - blurry / itchy watery eyes :( went to a eye specialist but he could not find anything wrong with my eyes - no infections - no nothing!! Even stopped wearing contact lenses, but still had the problem. then I discovered what was causing it. the CFL light behind my Sansui 54cm CRT TV. When ESKUM was still bullsitting us with rolling black outs, I bought a 105amp sealed battery & 700w inverter to power the tv / pvr & a CFL light. When the rolling black outs stopped, I stopped using the CFL light and my eye problem stopped. So I tested this and yes again after watching tv with the CFL light on behind the tv I got the symptoms again! Now obviously I don't stare at the actual CFL light, its behind the tv so I only get the glow of the light from the white walls around the tv, but if I spend to much time in front of my samsung 226BW LCD screen or watch tv in my bedroom on my samsung 2370 LCD I get the same symptoms :( from what I understand about LCD screens is that they r back lit with florescent lights? CCFL or HCFL fluorescent lamps.

perhaps the new LED LCD's will solve this problem?? but at R25k - R60k a bit to expensive to experiment with :(

i did some more testing with my home made experiment i explained earlier..lol.. if i move the windows window as fast as i can left and right.there is no blur,r compared to if i was to move it alot slower. Although it is still difficult to read somethings that fast, i can still make out a few things, and just have more of a random flicker of images that are easier on my eyes than it going slower and blurry.

So i reckon my eyes are able to pick up much faster images alot better than slower ones.

What is the fastest refresh rate of an LCD or LED monitor can go these days, in our present time? like the latest model?

I just tested the same thing. When moving a window extremely fast to the left and right the text can be made out. But when moving it slowly the text is blurry and difficult to read.
There are only two things that are affecting what we see:
1. The refresh rate. Most LCD's are at 60Hz. That equals a screen refresh every 1000/60 = 16.67ms
2. The response time. This is just the time taken for an LCD pixel to change. Most LCD's have 5ms response time.

The blurriness is caused by a combination of the above. Reducing them will reduce the blurriness. The reason we can still see snapshots of fast moving pictures is because the text moves enough for it to fall on a part of a screen that was previously white. So when the screen refreshes there is no blurring whereas if you move the window slowly, new text will be "blended in" with the same old text causing the blurring effect.
