Hi all, before I start, I am 21 working as tier 1 support tech. I am going to buy my first car as my salary allows this now... :) I have driven the Figo and the Vivo, but i think the vivo is just so much better quality.
I can get the 55Kw vivo full house for R128000.
The qustion is, should I get a vivo or possibly a second hand car in this price range like a corolla or someting similar? Any comments/ideas?

I was also thinking vivo...but then again the vivo does not even have electric windows! where the corolla has that and is even better build quality?

I have a Corolla, awesome cars and the build quality is top notch. Engine is also a lot better imo.

I have a corolla and a tazz. Best value for money and reliable transport.
Also has beter resale value than most other cars.

Buy a 2nd hand car...

you can get so much better than a Figo or Vivo if you don't buy new.

What about a demo/not-old-2nd-hand Trendline?

Buy a used Subaru. Bit heavy on the juice, but a lot of car for decent price. Don't buy new. Start saving now. You will understand in 15-20 years from now.....

Don't waste yr time with Toyota, unless u just want a car for point a to b. Get a new german car, solid build quality, get the Vivo. Nothing wrong with new, you get peace of mind.

secondhand?

Thanks for the comments, i know it makes sense to buy second hand.. but really what is there that is 1 year old and in that price range. I dont want to buy something that is 2 years old.. I mean i can get a brand spanking new car.. (with that awsum new car smell...haha :) )

Full House vivo with no electric windows? ya.
I am not agains't buying a new car (I just bought one) but if I was you I would go for something better 2nd hand. I mean the only reason I bought new was maintainance plan etc which you do not get with either of those 2 cars your mentioned..

Don't buy new.Slightly used you still get POM and a motorplan to boot. You always take a knock on a brand new car, unless its in very high demand, which is rare. You're not going to have the car forever so resale value is critical.

that new car smell doesnt last very long.
Rather go second hand

I totally agree that smell and paintjob creates that unmistakable 'feeling' like your very first er.....However with cars you have to be practical and smart and think about long term savings some of which is better suited to your property and investments.
