I have made a choice!

Hi guys, just to let you know, I have decided on the new polo 1.4 comfortline. I just couldnt get used to how plastic all the cars in the vivo's segment is (vivo included) I am rather taking a 20% residual and driving away with a brand new polo, which is an awsum awsum car!!

I def would not have gone your route (new car) and def not have taken a residual, but to each their own..

Thanks, i was also not to keen on the residual but I only have to drive to work evry second week, every other week i do remote support from home (late shift) this means that my car wont get high Km's that will devalue the car, and I want to trade in the car again after 4 years... I just think a car can never be an asset so in some way you are going to have to pay for a car your entire life.... might as well be a worthy car...hehe

Hi Guys, do you think I should buy the polo with a service plan? they are charging R7500 for a 3year 60000Km plan... :wtf:

I was thinking I would rather pay for the service myself and then take out an extended warranty? what do you guys think?

With the amount of driving you said you'll be doing a service plan won't be worth your while. Suppose you were to drive 60 000km in 3 years, that equates to approx 4 services costing you R7500.00, which could be well worth it depending on what the plan covers. However, if you will only be doing say 10 000km per year, then it makes less financial sense, as you will never use up R 7500 worth of servicing.

Agreed, a service plan is only a good deal if you are going to make full use of it. 7.5k is excellent for a 60 000 plan, but a waste of money if you are only going to do 20 000 in that time.
