okay so i just got a N97 and upgraded the ovi suite to the latest version BUT now i think it corrupted my windows somehow, i can't see my desktop anylonger and ctrl-alt-delete just gives me a new box that says disconnect or log-off. the error i'm getting is to do with the .net framework or something.

Please can someone help a noob out, i have no idea what happened. i just know all this cr@p started once i updated the nokia software updates application. then the .net framework thingy went kaboom !

currently i can get as far as my desktop but nothing is displayed (just my wallpaper) and then the error pops out. .net framework has encountered wadadadadada etc.

how can i fix this with out re-installing everything ? i don't want to reinstal again because i lost my adsl router disk.

edit: unhandeled exception has occured ... thats part of the error details

hmm googled it and it seems to be a common problem witn the .net framework installation, i think the ovi suite i installed had the .net framework included (actually i'm positive it did)

so now the question is how do i uninstall it with no desktop ?

Try uninstalling it through Windows Safe mode. I've had to take Nokia PC Suite off that way once before, but don't think it was a .net problem.

He speaketh the Unix/Linux.

You can also try Ctrl-Alt-Del & manually open explorer > File > New > "Explorer"

Make sure you have all the latest DotNet framework files off the MS site before reinstalling that Nokia Suite. If the uninstall leaves your system still broken then just run "msconfig" & launch system restore & restore to the point prior to your Nokia Suite installation.

i don't mind trying linux :D my ctrl-alt-delete window has changed and only gives me an option to log-off or disconnect so that won't work, i'll try safe mode but if that fails then i guess i'll have to re-install again :( i even tried logging on as admin but that gave the same error ...

Dang, I hate it when people make thread titles with "Exclamation PLEASE HELP !!!"

Why can't you just tell us what you want help with in the thread title... something descriptive... like...

"Nokia OVI suite corrupted my Windows/Net Framework - Help!"

That way, people who are able to help you can quickly scan the title and jump to your aid, and people who are unable to help you (Like me) can just avoid the thread. :D

That Title bar is not there for abuse or decoration you know :p
