Please recommend a vacuum cleaner

Is this Karcher WD2 to powerful for a flat? I was thinking about getting one of those rechargeable vacuum's but most people on here say those aren't any good.

On Special.

Another vote for Hoover, especially this model.
Not domestic-proof - they seem to break the clamps every-fugging-single-time!

I have had the dry one for years, using it as a shop-vac in my workshop (connected it to a drum to collect shavings, IOW: Nozzle-> hose -> drum -> hose -> Hoover)

Batteries don't last, especially if charged incorrectly: i.e charge 10 minutes from flat and then run it till it dies - rinse, repeat - and then stuff it back into the cupboard till needed - when she* feels like vacuuming.

*someone we know that has that Dyson cordless jobbie.

Oh ok, I wouldn't spend 15k on a Dyson vacuum. I thought Electrolux or something like that. Ive seen videos of the Karcher WD2 that's one very powerful thing. I have a 1 bedroom flat is it to powerful for that?

Yes way too powerful for a 1 bedroom flat. That thing is so powerful it will suck up the entire building which will trip the power.

Best would be a wooden broom.

Sucks like a beast.
Indeed it does. It wants to lift my carpets it sucks so strong.
Just keep in mind the attachment head in the box is more suitable for vacuuming a workshop or outside (see the stock pictures). You have to purchase a separate carpet head for I think R500 or so. Luckily my previous vacuum cleaner head was compatible.

I really want one of those robot vacuums that can do the work while I am asleep, or not even at home!

I got a Genesis Cordless Turbovac from Verimark in 2022 and it is still going strong. It broke in a couple of places due to the domestic dropping it, but everytime something breaks I just use Superglue and it is good to go again.

Anyone seen good specials lately ? Wet or Dry better ?

Feel kind of ashamed to post this. I have been advocating Karcher since day one. Every time. I have a WD2 I bought in 2011. I have not had a single day's kak with this thing. No pipe or fittings or wheels needed raplacing in all this time.

I was under the impression that my domestic cleans it out. Every so often. Cause the thing keeps sucking like a mofo. The other day I opened it up. Motherfsck. This is what awaited me. By the looks of it you would guess I have a dirty place. But it's not. This is just a couple of years kak in there.

I have the paper filter and there is a paper bag in there somewhere as well. Goeie fok I cleaned the thing out, cleaned the filter, put in a new bag. Now it lifts the tiles.

Assumptions...

Not just you.

Seen it at a few houses.

Never gets cleaned.

beat her for not cleaning it out... laziness will not be tolerated, the beatings will continue until morale improves!

Cleaning lady is heavy handed so the pipes do not last.
Then you realize you cannot get spares regardless of makro etc promises .

We've had multiple water filter ones (which I like, you just rinse it out).
Then this one, which is loud AF.

And lastly this one:

It's quieter, and has good suction, and the filters are on the shelf at Makro.

So I bought the Karcher WD2 and its been working well except now I've noticed the pipe fitting doesn't click into the unit like it used too. The blower side it clicks in perfectly but the sucking side.... no solid fit, so if I tug just a little the pipe comes loose. A little annoying.
