Ok I've got some hevc x265 content which some devices are simply not powerful enough to decode, video lags the audio with cpu pegged at 100%.

So I though let me install Plex on my Win10 desktop so it can do the decoding & them stream it to the local lan.

I setup plex, added folders to the movie & tv show libraries, it populates it & adds pretty thumb nails etc :D I disabled direct streaming as I'm assuming that just streams without decoding first.

From a linux laptop using vlc I can see the plex server and a playlist but clicking on it does nothing. Do I need to add anything to the server like adding codecs etc to do the decoding? The content plays fine on the win10 box using vlc.

Have tried connecting via browser? I.e http;//yourserver:32400/web . I have found issues with non plex clients sometimes, but browser works great

Go to your Plex server in settings and check what the local IP and external ip is. There should also be a green tick indicating that they are accessible.

Duh, just figured out I'm no longer on a static ip after the last win10 update, now on dhcp 10.0.0.3 address.

Will test and see how it goes.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
