Plugg ADSL pricing comparison

What if that R15 coke can win one lucky person a free "I love the Plugg Dude" shirt? Is that not justification?

/writes down in his great ideas booklet

If I get a promotion out of this one, I'll throw in a shirt for you

I joined myBB because of this Plugg argument and its wonderful to have a representative available to argue with...
and I wish you well with your exercise...

I am getting my CAP from mweb, most probably not cheap, and I wont move until I can get a real replacement for what I am getting currently

I dont call the help line and I seldom use more than 10MB of my online inbox

BUT, my personal record for monthly use is 66GB !!! and I need something that can make a really cost difference.... not the warm and fussy feeling that I can call somebody

may what would be also cool if one cant split the int and local, is to get unshaped local and shaped int traffic. It would be nice.

@ ajnviper - bud, I believe our pricing in the higher range of products and BW use is competitive if you look at the matrix. This is also our baseline of value-add as we're just getting started... we've got a whole bunch of awesome stuff in line. Plus, if you have an issue, you can always message me personally... not some faceless support person.

Look, I'm not in sales, I'm a community manager... so give it some thought.

Check yr messages. Maybe I can help you out.

66gigs at R52 = R3432

But I doubt he predicted he would use that much... so it would have been more expensive actually, if he had to top-up. And I nalso doubt that's his average every month. So we'd have to look at that.

Openweb has 10gb SAIX at R459, ie R45.90 per gig. (There are also cheaper VPN options)

So even for high international bandwidth use there are cheaper options available. And, of course, the higher you go, the more cost effective the puchase of an uncapped account becomes.

I think the disappointing aspect of Plugg is that they are a first tier ISP who has far greater pricing flexibility available to their product designers compared to reseller-ISPs.

It is a huge waste of a golden opportunity.

In a nutshell: it's more expensive, more confusing and adds more clutter to the marketplace. But hey, it's a lot more customisable.

Hey 'The Plugg Dude' (that nic still gives me the shivers): didn't you read any of the feedback over at ISLabs? Or was Plugg an attempt to address that?

(Btw, please don't call me dude, or bud when or id you reply to me. Pretty please.)

but, as I said, not getting into a pricing argument.

Erm, can I please say EPIC FAIL, 'dude'.

Don't you get it? Don't you get this site? Don't you get this very reason this site has been going for all these years? It's because of, yes, a pricing argument. It's the reason this site exists. It's the reason these people visit it. It's the reason we sit and wait for corporates like you to come along with all your pretty offers, and it's the reason we rip you up when you FAIL to address the very reason we are here for in the first place.

And you DON'T want to get into it? C'mon.

"The new IS Plugg offering however comes into its own when comparing prices for high usage – typically higher than 10 GB per month - something which IS has become known for in the ADSL market."

That's the only option they are cheaper on - and you have to spend 2 grand to save R200. That market segment doesn't care about R200 - they do however care about being locked into a monochoice deal.

And IS has the reputation of being the tortoise of SA broadband... whether they are or not, I don't want to be the guinea pig to test it out... I was bitten with poor latency and bandwidth once before...

SO... WHAT'S THIS COPY CAT TELKOM LINE RENTAL NONSENSE? ARE THEY SIMPLY RENTING FROM TELKOM AND BUMPING THE PRICE UP 100%?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm still waiting for an answer to one of my previous posts, which I can see was selectively ignored. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2071684&postcount=204

i wonder what happened in the meeting yesterday that the dude talked about when this all started.

It's just too expensive when will south africa get a decent price for bandwidth? This is still robbing the broadband users! I mean compare our prices to india and new zealand you can get 30GB for the same price as 1GB here. And not mentioning the speed. India. OMW India can not be more advanced than South Africa. They don't have super speed but 8mbits. We don't even have that speed. :(
