Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

With the flock of new users I hope us old clients won't be affected by a slower network :D

Hey guys,

I too am tired of Axxess and their 4kbps dl speed on a 2meg line.
I sent Janitor an email, and got a blistering response in only 14min! at this hour no less...
I have got a test account, will be testing this thoroughly, but so far i'm nearly ready to sign my soul away based on the service alone:p

On a serious note, this seems to be the brighter side of the interconnectednets

you wont be sorry... my test account is almost expired, such a sad day...

Was pleasantly surprised with my test account. Definitely an option if I decide to move from my current provider.

Best ISP in the market. Affordable, good quality, uncapped, unshaped afterhours and the best thing, it allows two concurrent connections (i share mine with a friend and we split the cost!)
But nothing is perfect... if they give a fixed IP it will be just perfect!

@webtailor...how exactly does their 2 connections work?

We have a house and a huge flat ..i live in the flat with the router by my computer

My brother uses my bandwith to(lives in the house) Via ethernet cable..but he does a lot of downloads..killing me at night with the gaming..

So how could these 2 connections help me?

If I'm understanding you correctly you have the router by you and your brother connects to it VIA ethernet? ie. you're both connected to the same router. This would only account for one concurrent connection (both going through the same router).

What's meant by two connections is that you can use the account in two totally different locations (different ADSL lines) and only pay for the one account. The drawback would be that both locations adds to the total amount of bandwidth used and that might put you in the top 20% of users and then get shaped. But that amount seems to be fairly high so don't worry about it :)

Also a comment on the support staff:
I just received a ticket number for the trial account i requested YESTERDAY. Kudo's to Janitor@plugg for replying in less than 5 minutes :D

Ahh!! Thanks :)...

Got my trail account last night..but latency is high :( ..

Still testing and seeing how it goes ..

the two concurrent connections works like this:

Two ADSL Lines (My friend lives couples of Kms away). I pay mine, He pay his (this is the telkom account with adsl rental).

On each router, the same account is used (we pay only one account, sharing the cost).

Most ISP with uncapped services, DO NOT ALLOW THIS.

I don't do gaming and i don't do heavy downloads. My friend the same. so we are fine with the bandwidth. The heaviest download may whenever there is a new iOS release.

It will not help you. the only thing that can help you is upgrade your ADSL speed. And maybe put a firewall/gateway in your system that prioritize traffic.

Or smaak your brother with the downloads at night (how old is he??? maybe find him a girlfriend to keep him busy so he doesn't spend too much time downloading crap/p*rn at night).

Ok guys those that jumped ship from other ISP's and moved to Plugg.

What are your thoughts about the service / speeds?

I Have a test account..4mb

Youtube even at 1080p with no buffering --- +1
Browsing amazing-------------------------- +1
Downloads are 350-420kbps---------------- +1

BUT :( and this is the part that gets me down .. Gaming latency is high :/.. Mweb on EU server gave me 187 average

Plugg gives me 260-320 :/

Local servers with Mweb gave me 45 latency

Local on Plugg give me 98 :/

I'm loving the test account but the latency is something that's getting me sad seeing i like playing online games..

PluGG 10Mb Test Account

I have a PluGG 10Mb test account. My line syncs at 8Mbps.

I'm loving the test account but the latency is something that's getting me sad seeing i like playing online games..

Latency on this connection is great for me.
Ping to Cape Town: 9ms
Ping to Paris: 170ms
Ping to US: 305ms

I don't do gaming, so can't tell you what the latencies to gaming servers are like, but these are to my own hosted servers.

As for donwloads:
NNTP from plugg news server: Max line speed.
Youtube: 720p content with no buffering. Loads extremely quickly.
SCP: Full line speed.
HTTP: Full line speed.

And browsing is awesome. I love this account. The only decision left is to fork out the cash for a 10Mb account or to stick with 4Mb. This account currently outperforms my WebAfrica Capped Business account which is $$$.

2mb Uncapped PluGG.

From East London
-----------------
Ping CPT = 53ms
Ping JHB = 62ms
Ping US-East = 309ms
Ping US-West = 356ms
Ping Paris = 202ms

Daytime and Nighttime
---------------------
NNTP from plugg news server: Max line speed.
Youtube: Full line speed.
SCP: Full line speed.
HTTP: Full line speed.

I'm extremely happy with the product, thanks PluGG.

Trialing a 10 Mbps uncapped account the last few hours and nntp is going at 1 MB/s during office hours. Axxess you get that after hours and only 50 KB/s during office hours. /impressed so far ...

That's whats bothering me..if my downloads, browsing and youtube all work great..and my download speed running at 3.5mb..i should get a decent latency :/

I am very happy with plugg: (4 Mbps)

Phoned Plugg and told them about it..

Very nice okes..good service!

Their busy looking why my latency would be so high..

If this is how their service is and they sort out my latency on this test account ,well they have a new customer :)

Do you guys throttle your uncapped service? How much is possible to DL? Whats the AUP in simple terms

Hi..am jumping ship on Mon 3-12 to Plugg .. seems as if Axxess 2Meg line is up to nonsense & untrusty speeds ... remember what they advertise & then they pull the carpet from your feet after business hours... Think twice...!!!!Even on Sat 1Dec.. new month.....
Received from Axxess Sent: 29 November 2012 04:35 PM
I see that at the moment your account itself is being managed by us because of the usage on it so far this month. The usage of 215GB so far was enough to get your account in the group of accounts that would be managed if the load on the network is high. This is basically the same that when we were still with IS (where the accounts lost its star ratings and slowed down as well). Your normal browsing would be fine but downloading protocols like HTTP, P2P and NNTP would be running slower if the demand for realtime services like browsing and streaming on the network is high. Unfortunately this is a policy that we have to implement to prevent abuse on the network itself that might cause the clients that don’t even download to have issues on their accounts as well.
Seems a bit like not up to their ads????

215GB on a 2Mb account is a lot, I did 120GB before my account was "managed" and ended up on 180GB on a 10Mb account.
