Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

gonna log a ticket now, but is anyone in CPT having issues all of a sudden?

I was humming along at 220ms to EU in-game when all hell broke loose and now Im sitting around 700ms. Seems like something very definite happened, like someone broke something :)

unplayable.

unplayable.

A huge DOS attack occurred, specifically aimed at CTN.

We have managed to contain it and the network should stabilize shortly, if not already.

Atleast browse damn websites!

Once you are down to a single star, it is advisable that you stop your downloads, especially during the day.

In your case it gets even slightly more complicated since you are sharing the account with a friend; a friend that is pulling twice as much data as you, non-stop. Your account have done 308gigs for the month, downloading all day long and that is why your star rating went down so quickly.

Your 4096 uncapped account is now shaped and classified with a super low priority. Add to that, the fact that you are connected twice having to compete for b/w with your friend, websites will take sometime to open up especially during the day when the network is busy.

Dear Janitor

Today is the 1st of October. Should my star rating not be reset to 5 stars? Or does it carry over to the new month?

Taken from a previous posting of mine:

Internet Solutions makes use of a rolling ten day window to determine your account status based on your usage. The rolling window is always today plus usage of the previous ten days; there are no specific days. Rolling ten days.

If you do find yourself 'flagged' the quickest and easiest way to get 'unflagged' is to schedule your downloads during Off Peak (23:00 - 06:00, Mon - Fri).

If you schedule the majority of your downloads during Off Peak, you will never be flagged.

Thanks Janitor, I forgot about the 10 day rolling window. ty for the reminder.

I never download stuff during the day. If I do, its very very rare. I always leave stuff going at night time only.

So Im confused why Im down to 3 stars. I guess what Im asking is whether my usage over the last 10 days (47.2 GB total bandwidth) is the problem, or if its the few items that I have downloaded during the day that have caused me to be lowered to 3 stars.

I use Netflix a lot, usually from 8pm onwards. So when I get downgraded I twitch. I dont mind being downgraded if its justifiable, I just need to know exactly why

It is important to keep in mind the priority is applied in real time, depending on usage on the network from minute to minute. When there are plenty of capacity available on the network you will be able to use more per month, of course the opposite is also true for when everybody starts to pull as much as possible.

Hi Janitor

thanks for taking the time to reply, but you didnt answer what Im asking? I understand about the whole real-time thing, but Im not talking about that. Im not complaining about my speed etc etc.

Im specifically asking you what caused me to be dropped from 4 stars to 3 stars. Was it the amount I downloaded/uploaded, or was it the fact that I downloaded something during the day?

Im prepared to go through my usage stats with a fine comb here...

I need to know why, because I want to be back up and then not go down again, ever. I cannot action a preventative measure unless you tell me what caused my star drop.

edit : perhaps a good start here would be to let me know what date my star rating dropped from 4 to 3. Then I can examine traffic for the prior 10 days.

But "the whole real-time thing" as you put it, plays a role in how the star rating works. If the network is busy, what you download, when you download and how much you download counts towards the star ratings. That is why it is slightly more difficult to give you exact figures. The network changes, the demand for bandwidth changes all the time.

PM me your plugg user details and let me add it onto my todo list :)

ok I see what you are saying. So downloading a 10GB file (for example) at 1pm will get you a star drop one week, but then the next week it wont. All based on the network capacity etc etc.

Going to PM you now my user. I need that date.

PM has been sent. Please can you get me that info. I have downloaded my usage stats for the year, and I have some time now to work on all of it...

Yeah I've also been dropped to a lower star rating this week and it's not changed. I have the 6 meg uncappd, I do average 3.5 gig a day and stream netflix after 7pm. This is the first time my rating has gone down from 4 to 3 stars in months.
What's odd is when I was on 4 stars for past 3 months I was pulling 4-5 gig a day in the evening. I did less last month and my rating has been reduced. Makes no sense to me.

I've logged a ticket and waiting for a response.

Correct.

Received your PM, will get the info to you as soon as I have a chance.

well based on what Im reading, then there is less capacity right now. Hence why you, and myself, were dropped when usage pattern remained the same.

It means that someone else is raping the network, and we suffer for it. That upsets me.

@Janitor, please send as soon as you get a chance
