Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Plugg don't have business account's, just regular and lite. I was talking about the regular.

Plugg is IS's consumer division. IS resells accounts to other ISPs like Web Africa who do have Business accounts.

The Business accounts use the same system just with higher thresholds.

I agree Business accounts stars drop slower.

There is only one type of 4mbit account type. Been with plugg a year and a month and the star rating now is tighter than before. My usage has been fairly consistent, but where as before I could stream the two netcasts each week and remain on 5 stars, it now drops me to 3 stars and it stays there. So last night I switched to Afrihost to watch my show, because at 3 stars it is buffering bonanza.

I'd recommend upgrading to the 6Meg account then. I'm always checking the posts in the AH thread and most people have problems when it comes to streaming.

At that price it is best to buy 300gb data from Afrihost and just used a capped account.

Why do people like AH capped so much? Just because its cheap? It's by far the worst type of data you can get if you plan to do Twitch, HULU or Netflix.

Had a couple friends that have tried AH home uncapped, business uncapped, and AH capped and all are on IS based accounts now. It's why I'm on Web Africa Business now. The only other account that's been flawless is VOX capped accounts.

Because it is reliable, cheap and moerse flexible. Also because they set off the biggest change in internet in South Africa and continuously doing so. Also, that data is unshapped.

Since I am not interested in any of those, but just stream shows from Twit.tv and the GFQnetwork, which is a whole lot better experience on Afrihost than on Plugg at the moment. Since all uncapped broadband providers are in a race to the bottom, the quality of the experience has gotten worst. Luckily, capped accounts have gotten a lot cheaper. So for the same money I can get a large capped account that offer unshapped data.

As for Plugg promise of a better uncapped experience, not sure that is true anymore. Having to switch between capped and uncapped depending on my usage need is certainly not ideal. Also, having a star rating dropped in minutes, then having to wait days for it to recover is also not a great experience.

Plus the whole less than stellar transparency as to how these threshold work is also terrible.

That's why a great many of us are using Business uncapped now. Me included.

Been stuck at 3 stars for a week. All downloading between 11pm and 6am, light usage during the rest of the time. No usage between 8am and 5pm week days.

I think with all the linespeed upgrades, expensive IPC and more people streaming these days, we can assume this is the new norm for the star rating, ie; more harsh than before :(

And again it is stuffed on a Friday night. Less than 1 Mbps on a 8 Mbps line/account and on three stars.

Getting gatvol of this tbh ...

Switched to AH and getting 5 Mbps. Not full speed but a crap load better than Plugg.

What's up with Plugg lately? Time to switch?

Why not rather upgrade 10meg account? the thresholds will be higher.

Or grab what I'm on. Web Africa Business 10Meg.
