I would post plugg speedtests to show you but speedtest.com doesn't load when I'm logged in with Plugg.

MyBB speedtest

Isn't it the same service? I'll try it again in a bit and post results here. Thanks for the suggestion.
Janitor - if you could confirm whether I'm being throttled or if there's another issue, I'd appreciate it. I don't have a problem with AUPs and throttling, I have an issue with it all being a big secret. Is there no way to tell from the control panel whether that is the case or not?

Check with http://users.isdsl.net/index.php

My account status says "Full Access"

Yes, you are currently flagged for throttling.

No secrets. I have been nothing but forthcoming about our FUP and throttling/shaping policies on this forum.

As for the CP suggestion, I believe that something is in the works.

I think the Janitor is going to blow a gasket if he has to answer this question again in the thread.

You do not want to know just how many brooms I go through each week. A special broom budget ;-)

I have asked the Plugg Product Manager that they make sure redesign of the website includes all this information.

Hopefully that answers your questions.

From what I understand, doing for example 30GB (This is not a hard figure, it all depends if this figure puts you in the top 20% of users) during Business- and After-hours (ie non Off-Peak, see his post for the exact times of the 3 time bands) in a 10 day rolling period would get you throttled to the max (I'm speaking from experience because I has this treatment), but doing for example in excess of 100GB during off-peak hours in a 10 day rolling period is considered fair and you won't get throttled.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I had a feeling it might have been asked, but I didnt feel like going through 30 pages (which I ended up doing anyway... lol)

I will keep my downloading habbits to the early hours of the morning then. Doesnt bother me.

One thing I did notice that last night around 17h30 for the first time I had LAG when playing games to EU. I had a ping on the go to google and it was solid 160ms. Zero other usage on the line... Was very weird...

Other than that Im very happy :)

That would be a good move. It might be especially helpful to see where we are in the scheme of things too... How far am I from being throttled for example. That said, I understand it might be challenging..

MyBB speedtest on Plugg:

Test conducted on 3/6/2013 12:28:11 PM

Download Speed: 106 kbps (13.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 324 kbps (40.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 101 ms

I'm logging into mweb again to do the same test.

*Edit*
Mweb:
Test conducted on 3/6/2013 12:50:11 PM

Download Speed: 5463 kbps (682.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 751 kbps (93.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 77 ms

Plugg total usage this month:
Total usage: 51.39 GB
Less than 10Gb a day... So Janitor, am I being throttled?

Anyway, I wish u luck, I've been with them all and it all boils down to the ISP that works for you.

This! I've been with Mweb for ages and they've been good till the speed wobble and skype issues this month. The main reason I want to bail from Mweb is the hassle of a month cancellation. I should probably be looking at a 'bigger' product with the rest of the crowd. I haven't tried WebAfrica yet but heard someone complaining about throttling there too.

All ISP's are going to control their network ;) If you dont like being controlled, then you gonna need to pay up :)

Yeah, which is why Mweb was good value for not alot more. Seems unfortunately that they offer a unique service for the price though.

Thanks! Dunno how I missed that. If the team could include that on the user control panel, that would be awesome.

Ok, I spoke with one of the support people at Plugg and understand the issue is usage. He also kindly pointed out that our signal is a bit low for synching at 10Mbps so I'm going to phone telkom to bump it down a bit and hopefully get a better overall service.

Janitor - how do cancellations work? I assume I'm signed up for the month regardless of whether I use it again this month or not (i.e. I assume I can't get a pro-rata refund if I cancel today)?

Other q is - if I opt for the 10 meg uncapped account, does it include a bigger threshold, or is it the same as the 4Mb account? Thanks!

It is all measured based on network capacity in real time.
