Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Hi Janitor

I have been struggling since the 3rd of March with issues, like disconnects and getting 1.5-1.8Mbps where it was previously 3.3-3.4Mbps on my 4Mbps line. I mailed you about this problem on that day and got a snotty reply, of which the snottyness I ignored.

Then you passed me onto Kalpesh Mithal, who has been trying to help me, but nothing has been resolved yet. Please help me resolve this.

First you say there's nothing wrong on your side, it's on Telkom. I waited 3 days and then logged a fault with them. They got back to me and say they see nothing wrong on their side.

Now I wait again. I do not know who or what to believe anymore.

EDIT: Speedtest result right now, but it's like this pretty much up til 01:30AM:

Unfortunately I can not identify you purely by your MyBB profile.

Just remind me again; are you the chap that asked whats the point of logging support calls with me, after I asked that you log it with [email protected] so that it can be entered into the system for tracking and escalation purposes?

As a side note, the reason I asked for the call to rather go to support, the email received had no information other than the indication of bull feces on the 4Meg DSL line.

Yes, thus I logged a call with support afterwards, as you extremely politely pointed out.

Janitor, whatever you have done has broken everything, takes 5 minutes to load a web page.

You're probably being throttled. I'd ask that question directly - took me a while to get an answer to mine. 10 gig a day for under 10 days got me throttled.

I asked that question already, confirmed I wasn't. Also, the same account works 100% from work.

I think the problem lies with Telkom in this case, but don't ever expect feedback from them.

Ok now but I gave up on streaming. Nntp at 50%.

Based on the traceroute you supplied me last night together with the high latency on the speedtest you did,

Code:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms DSL-G804V [192.168.10.199]
2 463 ms 474 ms 475 ms 196-210-170-129.dynamic.isadsl.co.za [196.210.170.129]
3 432 ms 437 ms 464 ms cdsl2-ctn-vl2276.ip.isnet.net [196.38.72.125]
4 468 ms 473 ms 457 ms 196.35.115.136
5 464 ms 453 ms 465 ms core2a-ctn-gi0-2.ip.isnet.net [168.209.6.6]
6 501 ms 492 ms 485 ms 168.209.100.213
7 483 ms 491 ms 471 ms csw4-rba-gi8-4.ip.isnet.net [196.26.0.249]

Trace complete.

Hop 2 indicates to me it's either line or exchange issue. Streaming, no matter how you look at it, simply do not like latency.

I just had a look at the account again, it is definitively not being throttled.

Our support guys will continue to try and get answers out of Telkom. They are however pretty quiet on the front of various exchanges that shows congestion for whatever reason.

I feel for the ISP's with Telkom constantly in the loop. They deal with far more nonsense than Telkom ever will - it's easy when your clients can't go elsewhere.

No I understand fully now that you guys are definitely doing everything in your power to solve the issue. But you must understand that when I initially logged the fault, I was pretty upset about getting 1.2Mbps on my 4Mbps line, and that I havd no idea that it was congestion. So I'm behaving ;)

Can you confirm that my port has been reset already? Probably obvious, but just checking.

I think this is to blame more often than we realise.

Signed up for Plugg a few months ago. It's quite nice to have no idea whether the company runs an efficient helpdesk setup. Never had to contact them.

I have had some issues but they have always been line\Telkom related.

Well done :D

Same problem as last night. Can't stream. Not even a 400 Kbps stream. Ok so there is a 130 ms to the 2nd hop but I don't buy that it's simply a congested exchange. Even if it is I'm going to cancel ... if I can't stream what is the point of uncapped? And this was fine for almost 6 months and now suddenly it's an issue ... ???

Line: 8 Mbps
Account: 10 Mbps
Speedtest.net: ping 24 ms, down 0.07 Mbps, up 0.53 Mbps
Youtube: buffers
Twit.tv: buffers
Web pages: hardly loads

Last chance Plugg ...

On AH 130 ms to 2nd hop. On FNB 60 ms to 2nd hop. None allows streaming.

Ok so I accept this is Telkom related but none the less I can't pay for unusable uncapped.

Seems to be a Cape Town issue...

Janitor, can you please advise when the issue will be resolved so I can move the clients to an alternative network.

So I used the escalation form of Telkom, not that I expect any response from these lazy as **** idiots. But the speed is diabolical.
