PnP RROD demonstration.

Right, I go to Pick n Pay Steeldale in Joburg to buy a couple of games (PC). They have a couple of Demo consoles on display were you can try them out and see if you like them. PS3, xbox and ps2 can be played there. So anyway I'm busy makeing my decision what games I want and I turn around and there's this kid who is trying to turn on the xbox only it imediatly shows RROD.

Thats just brilliant marketing wouldn't you think?:rolleyes:

The thing is that I want an Xbox. After this I am thinking twice.
 
What segments were red? Could just be that the video wasn't plugged in.

Three segments, and I checked the cable at the back of the box. If I'm not mistaken three lights is usualy more then cable problem but a hardware failure. All I can say is that if I where PnP I'd take the unit away because that is going to cause lots of lost sales.
 
Sorry cant post quickly, my ADSL is really giving trouble today. it takes like half a minute for a page to come up.
 
if its Jasper then there is no ways im buying an Xbox. M$ can go jump!
imagine that poor kid just wanted to play games and more importanty 2 days away from Fifa.....thats how i feel :

Tell me about it. If it is a Jasper I'm going for PS3 slim.

LOL. The kid didn't even know that the xbox was broken so lots of people are not going to even think there's a problem and still buy them.

Very very highly unlikely it was a jasper, that xbox has probably been on display for at least 2 years :rolleyes:

I'll check tommorrow. Actually I don't think it is. I would rather have a xbox because a lot of the games that are on the box are more to my likeing compared to PS3.

and the Arcade is cheaper.

and I can borrow games from a buddy who has one.

But if it is a jasper I'm buying PS3. I dont want hassles with RROD and the service of warenties in SA.

As I said, will check tommorrow. Will PM you if it is. But I hope that it is a falcon so it means that there is still a chance for me to buy a box without fear of it RROD if its a Jasper.

Nah doubt it, it just means that when they got their xbox demo stand at the time the falcons were on sale hence that is the unit on display. Most stores with a xbox demo unit are most likely not Jaspers.

I was in the same predicament as you, made sure when I bought my xbox that is was the Jasper and I have never been happier. Love it :)

No the xbox is not in one of those stands. it's just on a table thingy conected to a TV. So it could be anything. Don't believe it's a Jasper though, will check tommorrow.
 
I know the arcades that they are selling are Jaspers. I went to check it out about a month ago. But don't really know about the demo unit because when I go there, they always have the PS3 playing music on the tv.
