Pokemon Go!

can you please explain?
I have 3 Hitmonchan.

834,67,rock smash, ice punch
608, 53,bullet punch, brick break
209, 36, rock smash brick break

which one should be effective vs snorlex/lapras?

next time you take a gym, put a snorlax in.
the guy on reddit claimed you can take out a 1900CP snorlax with a 900CP hitmonchan.

if you have a smaller snorlax, say around 800CP ish
use the 608 one, its the only one with the move set that supposidly works

It's going to take a while but with the buddy system I can get:

  • Beedrill
  • Nidoqueen
  • Nidoking
  • Clefable
  • Wigglytuff
  • Gloom
  • Vileplume
  • Golduck
  • Poliwhirl
  • Poliwrath
  • Alakazam
  • Machamp
  • Victreebel
  • Tentacruel
  • Golem
  • Slowbro
  • Cloyster
  • Hypno
  • Electrode
  • Seadra
  • Seaking
  • Gyarados

My Pokedex should then be about 90% complete.

The upcoming buddy system allows you to "walk" your Pokemon which will give you candy.

I can then walk, while still catching along the way, Charmeleon to get me enough candy to evolve Charizard etc.

*Everyone believes that this is the way the upcoming buddy system is going to work...

last word from Niantic was that is how its going to work.

the general thinking is the buddy system will be released in the update coming next, and a lot of speculation is it will be today, but because yesterday was labor day in the USA, we might have to wait another day.

It might take a while though...

Everything extra helps, if we keep using Charmander/Charmeleon as an example, if I walk 10km and I catch at the very least 5 Charmanders I will get 5 candies for walking, 15 candies for catching and I can transfer all 5 if they are lower CP giving me a total of 25 candies.

If I do that three times with the current candy I have I get Charizard.

How do you know it will be 5 candies for walking? Are the details of the buddy system known yet?

People are making assumptions based on a few function / variable names found in the games frontend source code.

You won't get a candy every 2km, too easy... Probably 5km, maybe even 10.

Buddy pokemon will be a game changer, finding rare pokemon will be exciting. As of now it's wtf do I do with a single 60CP Squirtle.

Code:
"familyId": "FAMILY_CHARMANDER",
        "candyToEvolve": 25,
        "kmBuddyDistance": 2

That's pretty hard to ignore, the only thing that we don't know is if you will get 1 candy for 2km or one set of candy, meaning 3 candies like when you catch one.

Aaaaah I see, each pokemon looks like it will have a different distance per candy then.

Hopefully it means that you get candies every 2km... and then you get a bunch not just one.

So far I have walked 100km. Means only 50 candies for the entire time I have played, will still help with the Pokemon that I need just 1-2 candies to evolve.

The link I posted earlier was a Google doc with all the values.

Really hope it's 3 candies like when you catch one but I think it's going to be 1 candy per km goal.
