Just hatched a magikarp. Is it supposed to look like it's about to die rofl

So you have to catch 101 Magikarps to get Gyarados?
Unless you get lucky with eggs, yes.

Each catch is 3 candy, so that's 100 catches to get 300. Then you transfer the 100 and get 1 candy each, this put you on 400 required to evolve. But you still need a magikarp to actually evolve, so 101 catches.

Eggs give a random amount of candy as well though so you could get lucky if you hatch karps.

Around 400 candies, which is slightly over a 120 magikarp - if you transfer them back.

With all due respect, what school of math did you attend? Assuming all of them are caught and non hatched, you get 3 candies when catching one and 1 candy when transferring to the professor. So, 4 candies each gives me 100 floppers to be collected, plus one to be kept to evolve. 101 is thus the most you would need to collect. If you hatch them, you generally get more than 3 candies, reducing the number needed.

Just don't go powering any of them up.

I have a one ball rule.

If I hit with one ball and its a low CP pokemon that breaks free I run.

but over the last few days I have found a few good places to get pokeballs. I now have like 188 pokeballs, where on sunday I had 4.

potions is still an issue, but that is because I take on a lot of gyms before I claim. I claim for 100 gold every day

Your Arcanine is missing you btw. I drive past him everyday and only noticed it was yours yesterday :D

So I tried a gym this am. Won 3 fights and then scooted off.

At least I'm getting the hang of it :D

Couldn't quite see how the blue special powers bar works. Will try again this weekend.

I've got 11 pokemon waiting to be evolved tonight - most of which are types that I haven't evolved before :D

Going out for dinner around a bunch of stops - going to crack a lucky egg and then evolve the buggers.

level 10 + all Pidgeys caught so far + in range of 2 pokestops + lure + lucky egg = Level 14!

Nice! I am saving up all my evolutions to push met to level 16 (and perhaps beyond). Seriously low on pokeballs now, though...

So yesterday I got the itch to switch to Android Nougat (Developer 4). I've noticed two things regarding the Pokémon Go app. It hangs more often than on Marshmallow. But when it doesn't hang, it's much snappier, more fluid. very fast switching between it and say, WhatsApp or Telegram.

Bit off-topic but i found it interesting and thought I'd mention it.
