Pokemon Go!

What is the best type of pokemon to use as a buddy? I am going to start with Charmander.... Should I rather pick something else and why?

which ever one you rarely encounter and want to get enough candies to evolve it to get an additional pokedex entry?
or if you need candies to power up an uncommon pokemon.

I am currently buddying up with Pikachu because i need 2 more candies to evolve him.

what do you want to achieve?

I had a squirtle, chelder, seel muk and now a dratini as my buddies.
all of them were to get the candies needed to complete my pokedex.

my Wife is following the same idea.
the difference is my pokedex is now complete, so I am walking my Dragonair now to evolve it into another dragonite because I want 2.

there are people who walk snorlax because they want to power it up.

there are people walking a Oddish because they dont see them at all. (I assume he simply confirmed what his buddy was rather then explain the logic....)

so honestly, its up to you. decide what you want to do wiht the candies and pick like that.

Thanx. I will stick with Charmander then because I would like to evolve him.
Was not entirely sure what the walking buddy thing is about before your reply.

what biome are you in?
because up here in the greater PTA area, with the "dessert" biome (sandshrew, nidoran, ekans, meowth, cubone, machop) you see charmanders about once in every 2 days so a rare spawn. growlith is an uncommon spawn, so about 1 in 6 spawns.

in a grass biome you will see bulba, and a water biome you will see squirtle.

the reason I ask is because there is no point in walking a charmander (for me for example) because I will get 4 or 5 charmanders a week, but 0 squirtle.

Where do I see what Biome I am in?
I live in Cape town.

Level 12 and I only saw one Charmander and that is because it was my starter pokemon. None since then.
Saw a bulbasaur the other day but he got away.

Biome is not really recorded anywhere.

but you might notice you see some pokemon more often then other in some areas.

like the VnA is a water biome. there are water pokemon everywhere, but not really rock/fire types.

but then when you go away from the waterfront and deeper in land, there will be more grass/bug type pokemon.

those are biomes.

Boksburg is grass and bug, wiht some water types splattered in some areas.
Pretoria is basically all fire/rock/ground pokemon.

The drivebys not working is a flop for me. But the current bonus makes stopping worthwhile. Also the extra spawns are awesome

the speed restriction makes even me consider finding a location spoofing app.
and we all know how I feel about cheating.

but not being close to a pokestop at home, and smoking less after the wedding, combined with the incrased spawn rate means its now actual effort to get items.

I feel like spoofing is the only way I can get items in order to play.
I went from hitting 6 stops on the drive to work and 8 on the drive back to hitting the one at work....

but if I were on the bike I would not be getting any of these stops so I should not complain.
and I prob wont spoof.
but I can understand why people would spoof location for pokestops now. but if you spoof and take a gym your are still a piece of dried up snail excrement.

I am on level 15. Haven't hit any garden or mall yet. But nice to find out how to use lucky egg. Found a park in area that has 6 pokestops in a small area. Plotting to take family for picnic.
