So lets do a little Thread Necro.

I have just been to Dortmund for Go Fest, and to compete in worlds for pogo PVP.

I did not do amazingly well, in fact i made a play mistake that lead to me not making it out of the first round and into the top 8, but I was there and I was watching the top 8 happen live on screen in front of me.

So a few take aways from 12 days in Germany:
Playing on a train or bus doesnt work, I lost a few practice games due to lag/connectivity issues.
Dortmund during go fest is insane. pokestops lured as far as the eye can see from the Tuesdat when we arrived until the sunday when we left.
The entire city went crazy for pokemon go. you thought it was crazy at launch? its a million times more.
I store has specials for pogo, Macdonalds has specials.

you will hear more different languages in the streets than you expect. I could identify 19 different languages while we walked past the Macdonalds. granted I was corrected that it was only 18 because apparently American is still english, really didnt sound like it thoguh, I could understand the scotsman better.

go fest itself is unlike anything you have ever experienced. and likely will experience unless you actually go to a go fest. the park it was held in is bigger than the city of Dortmund the park does not load on the in game map you need to walk to the other end to see the rest and then you cant see the point where you started.

the official numbers say 85 000 people attended go fest. honestly it felt like there was more than that on just the Thursday when I was there.


I would highly recommend attending a go fest. start saving now. aim to fly direct, a 21 hour flight with layovers is not worth it, and the idea of "but I can find torkal" is not enough reason. its my only regret about the trip.

if you choose to do Dortmund next year, put 2 days aside for Colgne. the place is amazing.

yes they are special trades. only one a day can be made, but I will definately keep one for you. or Caryn will.

costs 15K dust for a 1 heart friend to get a carnivine. so ideally I would like to build up friendship a little to save dust.

send me your friend code, and lets make a plan to have coffee next week so we can do the trade for 5K dust at 2 hearts instead.
but I will see you at FS this weekend anyway
 
Speaking of friends, I need to make another friend for the special research. Any takers?
