Have you been a victim of police brutality?

Have you been a victim of police brutality?

Have you been a victim of police brutality?

You guys are aware that this happens all over the world? There's nothing particularly unusual about ******* cops who run about beating/tazing/shooting the **** out of people they are meant to protect.

Yeah but those stories aren't using News24 and it's questionably racist/ignorant commentor to incite threads on this forum as well.

Not sure, how many times have you counted?

I don't have any ANC friends as far as I'm aware.

You repeat your statements enough times you will eventually believe it. People take dumps on front lawns all over the world.. does that make it acceptable?

Just 'cos people beat the crap out of the innocent in other countries makes it OK to happen in SA. Why not try IMPROVE the mindset in S.A. and take a stand against something as horrific as this brutality and perhaps.. maybe.. the rest of the world where these actions take place will take notice and fix their brutality problems too! .. After all, if it can happen in Africa, it can happen ANYWHERE.

I was not for a second suggesting it is okay. As someone who has had a rather unpleasant run-in with the police, I am all for changing the mindset.

I was simply pointing out that this is not a uniquely South African problem, is all.

Some people seem to have a hard-on for the notion that there is something unique about our corruption and problems here. Happens just about everywhere (and again, I'm not remotely suggesting that this makes it okay, of course not).

Once again we see the entire SAPS condemned for the actions of a small number of criminals within their ranks.

Sigh

You try to portray all members as violent thugs who attack innocent people at the slightest provocation, yet if this were true all of our news media would be stuffed full of stories detailing attacks in every suburb of every town in every province.

All the cases you have shown are either been investigated or prosecuted, which is great as it will hopefully remove this scum from the ranks of the SAPS

The vast majority of police officers just get on with the job without any fanfare or applause.

Very often seen from the outside the officers actions can be construed as police brutality, for example

A very large women is caught shoplifting, officers are called to arrest her. She then sits down and refuses to get up and go to the van, she also starts screaming at the top of her lungs. As a result she gets manhandled to the van, this requiring four officers to accomplish as she is actively resisting. Is this police brutality

A office attempts to arrest a drunk man who after been warned to back off kicks in a cars window, the officer pepper sprays him and moves to arrest him. His girlfriend grabs the officer from behind so her boyfriend can get away, for her trouble she gets a backhand which puts her on the ground. Is this police brutality

A man is throwing stones at the police he gets shot with rubber bullets. Is this police brutality

A man threatens a female officer in front of her male colleagues. He gets his ass kicked and stuck in a van. Is this police brutality (Maybe)

There are plenty of other example which would come across as police brutality yet the actions are justifiable.

As for shoot to kill, that was old news even before Cele said it. If someone shot at us we would shoot to kill, no fancy disabling shot, aim for the center mass and keep shooting till he is down or drops the gun

They don't care. They get excited by reading stories on News24 and then think the sky falling.

You guys are aware that even though this happens all over the world, it's still a disgrace and inexcusable. There's nothing particularly unusual about ******* cops who run about beating/tazing/shooting the **** out of people they are meant to protect but what difference does that make? I want to live in a society that is different, Don't you?

LOL, come on Fudzy, leave it out. The facts are there and no amount of "It's racism" is going to change that. Cops are turning into thugs and citizens are the victims, pulling the race card is getting lame.

Pretty sure the cops are just extremely fed up of their hard work going to waste. I know I would be.

LOL, please dude, no one has mentioned any of that stuff, we are talking about real cases of brutality here. I have much respect for the good cops out there. they put their lives on the line for the betterment of the communities they serve and I will always praise them for it. But the criminal element in the police needs to be exposed, every time there is an incident, it's vital.

You seem, somehow, to have missed the several times I made it quite clear that of course it is not okay.
