NO! The addendorf and other cheaper polishing machines are Rotaries. They are used by professionals. Not impossible to get the hang of, however not recommended for the the weekend warrior / enthusiast. Those are the machines that cause "burn" and holograms (if you don't know what you doing.)

The Dual Action polisher I am talking about is a machine that oscillates and rotates. So it doesn't create and hotspots. MUCH safer to use as you don't need any experience or skill.

It is a bit more expensive though. Crazydetailer has them for around 3k

OP got one question for you,

I take it you have no problem driving a manual car locally in SA?
why didnt you go looking for a manual(standard transmission) car in the US?

you know Americans are afraid of Manual cars, you have to be a rocket scientist to drive one of those....
or some kind of racing driver, with the amount of shifting shown in American films.

could have really gotten a bargain, when we were in Can, did the same thing and got a 2nd owner Hyundai scoupe,
had only about 45K miles on it, but was a manual, so north americans are lazy like that:whistle:

could have exploited their laziness very well and gotten something better but manual...

The family vehicle that we were looking for had to be SUV. And SUV + manual does not go well together.

I did look out for the manual transmission vehicles in the hope of your reasons above. However, most of the manual transmissions were specialty cars, like coupes, sport cars etc. Definitely not suited for my needs.

Anyways considering the price I picked the Santa Fe for, I think it was a great deal overall with the least amount of compromise.

Good job dude. You sound like me. I'd much rather drive a clean, well looked after older model than just rush out and spend good $$ on something that's not going to last forever anyhow. May I ask what state you're in?
 
Those results may look good now, but polishing faded headlights will never last, they will return to their yellowed glory in no time. Once the factory finish moulded coating gets worn off, they're gonners. You'll have to eventually replace them.
 
Not sure what the cost of those are in the US but can't be too unreasonable. Probably just best to wait till they need replacing.
