It's a snazzy little car. Well spec'd and handles sweetly. I have however heard one or two typical Renault stories regarding parts availability, and at Highveld altitude that sub-one-litre engine really does struggle with turbo lag a bit. Here's CAR Mag's comparative test of 4 players in that class... which one wins is predictable. ;)

I must say I've seldom had an issue with getting parts from Renault. I walked in yesterday and they had a diesel filter I needed in stock. The only thing I recall waiting a while for was a compartment (on the floor of the car) which took about 3 weeks to arrive.

As alluded what I heard was anecdotal, and I would hope their availability on parts for routine service would be acceptable. If you were looking for, say, an injector or suspension arm the three week wait would've been a serious annoyance.

Regardless, my bigger concern with the Clio is the engine. On the reef the lower output 1.2TSI Polo exhibits enough lag to be borderline annoying - the Clio will be that much worse. Still, if you can live with that, it's a nice option.
