Wie-wou 'n Vivo koop?

Three quarters of South Africa, judging by parking lots. It also blows my mind.

If you can afford R130 000 for a car, you can afford R160 000 and get something decent. Saving R30 000 upfront is going to be the costliest mistake you ever make, as you'll hate your el-cheapo and lose R50 000 on the resale while disposing of it quickly. I speak from experience with a Renault Sandero. A very very painful experience.

Well considering he specifically mentions the sedan I'm guessing it's related to the boot and it opening quite easily by some or other means.

Probably a case of bumping it in just the right place and the lock releasing.

Alot of speculation... Do you also believe in Aliebs? Got sweg?

OP is talking about the security flaw of leaving the keys in the ignition. Well it's actually a good thing VW and rental companies didn't take him seriously.

If you can afford R160K you can afford R190K and get a proper car. And now we have a poor sod that has spent R60K more than he could afford. Stupid reasoning...

First mistake you bought a French car. Second mistake you assumed it's worth anything second hand. Nothing wrong with a R130K car; just be sure to do your research and that the car fits your needs.

Nope, a R130k car costs that much due to the large number of concessions made during its construction. Obviously personal tastes differ, but I find that there is a substantial increase in the solidity of cars and their safety from R160k onwards (4 airbags instead of two, better interior comfort, heftier doors). The same jump is actually not evident from R160k to R190k, because there you're looking at different spec levels in the same class, compared to different classes altogether. True story.

Nope,
http://www.vw.co.za/en/models/vw_up1/trimlevel_overview.html (Front, side and curtain airbags) R135K.
You bought French and regretted it. It happens. Just because you bought a crap car, doesn't mean there's no good cars in the R130K bracket. And you can *always* justify better as the price goes up.

Please elaborate...

Well at first I did not want to just put it out there but why the hell not. Volkswagen South Africa is useless to say the least.

If you own a Polo Vivo Sedan do the following:
Lock the car. You can check all the doors and the boot is locked.
Now unlock the boot using the button on the key (say you took your purse out of the boot and left your laptop there) and close it. The car will lock to notify you that everything is locked.
Check to see if the boot is locked and you will find that it is not.

As I said. I reported this to Volkswagen South Africa and they doing nothing...

sounds like a urban legend; dosent seem at all possible , at QC when the car is built something like that should be checked;

Am I the only one who can't find the bit where you locked the car again after opening the boot?
