Polo Vivo Sedan - security issue

Am I the only one who can't find the bit where you locked the car again after opening the boot?

I am assuming because he only used the boot unlock button the car should be locked and when closed the boot should auto-lock.

The car auto locks if you don't open any of the doors after you close the boot lid. Or should auto lock, but OP says it isn't even when it indicates with a beep and lights

No you're not, but I think that the OP assumed that the boot would be locked after it was closed - which would be a perfectly logical assumption as most cars work like this. His issue would be that it isn't and that he would actually have to lock it again.

It is suppose to Auto Lock after just Opening the Boot, old Polo 9n/9n3 Hatch and Sedan does this Even on my Fraud Focus when using the Boot/Hatch Unlock Button on the Keyfob when you close it will Flash Lights etc. that the car is automatically locked again and other doors remain locked while you are just opening and closing the boot.

Which is a feature I personally ****ing hate, locked the keys into the boot of a Fiat Punto I was hiring with this retarded system

Has anyone else tried this? maybe it's just a single car that has a malfunctioning central locking system.

Wondering the same thing. That sounds like a huge flaw. Surely someone else on here has a vivo Sedan.

I sold a Vivo sedan to a friend in Cape Town - drove it down to her, so spent a good deal of time in the car, and everything locked and unlocked perfectly.

I get highly irritated when people have a fault with one car and then blame the whole range.

Stupid.

You have 2 options.

Option 1 - Press the lock button when you open the boot.

Option 2 - Sell the car and buy another one.

I know what the OP is referring to. Some of out company cars are Polo Vivo Sedans and it drives me mad how I can never get the boot to lock with the key fob. Press the lock button and all the doors lock and the car beeps but the boot doesn't lock. I often find myself waiting about 30 seconds and checking the boot again, to find it locked. Pain in the ass when you trying to get somewhere quickly and you have to wait for the boot to lock.

I just spoke to a friend of mine that heads the servicing department at one of the VW dealerships. This is not a flaw and is completely intentional.

As per the above poster, the locking mechanism has a 30s timer before engaging. This is there for those that somehow leave their keys in the boot

When initially closing the boot, the car will indicate it is locked by flashing and beeping to "fool" those prying eyes so again it is not a flaw but an intentional design.

Edit: Not ideal but I guess VW sided with the amnesiacs on this one.

To me it's really stupid. Means I need to sit by the car for 30 seconds before walking off, else someone can just open the boot and take whatever they want...
