I need to redo my pool pump wiring.
I want to put a wifi controller in for the pump, lights etc.
Possibly put in a connection point for some garden lighting while I'm busy with this.

I have a 1,1kw pump.

I have a few unused Sonoff devices here. An electrician I spoke to also suggested the CBI Astute Wifi controller.

I like the idea of being able to use the remote control on the pool pump.

I have a the following:

Sonoff 4CHPRO with RF control
This has the RF channel, but it's only 10amp, so I am not sure it's suitable for the pool pump.

Sonoff THR320 + Temperature sensor and extension cable
I wanted to connect the temperature probe and put a panel in the braai room showing the pool temp etc.
I see this one is 20A, so that would work with the pump.
I don't see any mention of this working with the remote control though.

I have been looking at the following devices:

Sonoff POWR320D
That's 20A and has power monitoring, which seems useful for alerts on the pool pumps power consumption. This could be used to trigger an alert if the pump isn't working correctly.
I don't see any mention of the remote working with this though?

Sonoff POW R3 25A 5500W Smart Switch
I looked at this, but don't see an RF function

I might try setting it up so that the pump only starts once the sun comes out and the solar panels are working.. so perhaps a scenario based on UV index, cloud cover, rain etc. Not sure what the options are here.

I have seen a few similar threads, that's how I got onto buying the first couple of devices.

Any suggestions? What do you find works best?

The Sonoff 4Ch pro will be fine driving your pool pump and any lights like your pool light that you wish to connect to it. However, the 4Ch pro is quite a large device and if you don't have any space in your pool pump outdoor enclosure, it might be a problem.

I use my 4Ch pro for my irrigation system and it works FLAWLESSLY with ESPHome loaded onto it. It drives 3 Hunter solenoids.

However, you might want to consider Shelly 1s for your pool pump and pool lights if space is a concern.

Added to that, to tie everything together, a system like Home Assistant would be perfect.

I use Shelly 2.5PMs for my pool, nice and small, fits in the enclosure perfectly and I get power usage figures and easy integration into Home Assistant. I also went and got a decent 12v driver for the Led pool light because the pool shop wanted to sell me something from 19voetsak that was the size of 2 damn houses.

I got over eager and put in a second one for any outdoor lights I may want to put in at some point as well.

I’d love to replace the two Shelly 1s in my pool pump enclosure with a 2.5PM. That power consumption info would be awesome in my energy dashboard.

I use the R320D for my pool, as long as it has wifi and my phone has data I can remote into it.
