BUT

John Abbot will cover the car for the balance of it 5years/100 000km, and to be quite frank the service technicians are the ones who were all ex Porsche staff and they are best when it comes to Porsche ...

Seriously, why not cover the whole range then 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0l turbo? by dropping it below the cayman, the porsche brand will loose its luxury/supercar brand status without a doubt...I'm not saying its wrong its just a strategic consideration that needs to be taken into account

Thats true, but from Porsche's perspective, they always relied on their reliable sportscar stigma... now that Audi and Lambo have stepped into their space, they need try other avenues...

Ive always been a hug Porsche fan, and I still am... but if I had the choice, the LP560, V10 Audi can steal me from the 911 turbo.
 
Loved seeing the Porsche against the Lambo on Top Gear last night. :D

I could live with the Lambo! :P

Don't really care TBH. I don't typically buy cars based on what others are driving, but based on whether I'll enjoy driving it.

very true! but, audi makes the R8, jaguar, which is a very luxurious car, (XKR, XJR, XFR) makes a 2 liter diesel estate car. Now, i know its a long shot, but if you could decide between say, a polo gti or a golf gti and something from porsche, which will cost about the same, what would you take ??

It's not. Porsche entertained thoughts of taking over VW a while ago, but instead now find themselves under their target's control. Along with Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, SEAT, and Škoda, as well as Ducati.
 
Making a cheaper priced car does not always equate to losing brand quality, look at Mercedes that are making cars to attract all age groups and different types of buyers whether it's a mommy car or an all out sports model.
 
Well, as they saying goes : In Germany there is one set of laws for everyone, and another for VAG.
