My neighbour has been trying to download messages on her Vodacom connect card without any success.

The reception here is terrible, no tower nearby, so I assume that could be the root of the problem.

So now I am connecting through my wireless connection trying to download the mail. Apart from the fact that the download is extremely slow, I have now tried 4 times without completing the mail download without the pop3 connection timing out.("the operation timed out waiting for a response fromthe receiving POP server")

This whole process is of course extremely painful, because it redownloads the message properly received during previous attempts, because they seem to be only deleted when a full session has completed successfully.

Is there any reason that she cannot download from the Vodacom pop3 server from another ISP, or are their any settings that can be changed in OUTLOOK to try and circumvent the timeouts?

I have no problems in accessing SAIX pop3 servers!

I am sitting with the same problem and after spending more than a hour and thirty minutes on the phone with one of the technical guys, the problem is still ongoing.

I was told that it is my anti-virus program. I was using Avast. After installing Bitdefender, the same problem is still happening. I am giving up with Vodacom e-mail.

Not only that 1 hour into the new month, I receive a sms saying that my 2gig is depleted. What is going on at vodacom?

To see if you get better signal MTN prepaid sims are only R0.99.
For 3G I have what seems like worse than dialup connection with Vodacom- with all the web connection timeouts etc.
In my area MTN offer better signal & HSDPA speed so i use them for data.

Pretty sure you can still download your Vodacom mail thru a Mtn connection

Not sure about pop settings in Outlook but in the SMTP settings there is a timeout value that needs to be increased if you have larger attachments or slower link than normal.

If you're getting usage SMS's, better check it out.

You could use the Alternative Method of Logging on to Vodacom4me with the Cell Number/Username and Password, then clicking the email link to access the mailbox directly.

Second suggestion, use GMail :)

Third suggestion, download and Install Mozilla Thunderbird.
