Pope Francis

I wonder if this election will bring about some changes for the better of the catholic cult. Unfortunately i feel they are just going to continue with their screwed up ways.

Didn't happen before, what makes you think it'll be any different this time? The only thing that will change is that he'll get to sample some European boys.

How long do we wait for the new pope to hand over all the perv's to the authorities.

Should I hold my breath ?
Easy to chirp from the sidelines without knowing how things are organised. So where must he go to find these that he can hand over? This is a guy who until yesterday lived in a small working class flat in a grotty side of Beunos Aires. He takes the bus to work. He cooks his own food.

Child raping , corruption , gay bashing , refusal to provide Aids stricken people with condoms. The list can go on, but these are probably the main ones.

I dont think it will be different , hence why i said:

Lol imagine using this line for the ANC :D

You said he was going to sweep clean - you saying he doesn't know where the dirt is ?

There is all kinds of filth in the church. Just like Benedict before him, he'll continue to work at it. That said, cleaning out filth is not the main mission of the pope. That's our job.

How many perves did Benedict hand to the authorities ?

Well I don't see you handing over anyone, I don't see anyone else handing them over either.

You said he would be for cleansing and renewal, so it seems cleansing filth is in fact his job.

I suppose it may be pointless since those who hate the Catholic church or even Christianity for that matter will continue to do so, but here goes anyway.

I find it strange to read some comments here, those laced with hatred of an organisation that has brought great comfort and good to many people. It's clear that these people are intelligent, and are convinced of their arguments, and based on these comments display the righteous anger and sound morality of those, like me, who are appalled at any form of abuse, be it by a priest, or a pauper.

It is indeed shameful to read about the abuse by those in power in the church, and the seeming inaction of those who did not do enough to prevent it. Those guilty should be brought to justice, and those obstructing such justice too. I can only speak personally, but the church has shown me only love, compassion and forgiveness. I look back on close to forty years as a Catholic with gratitude to God.

I accept without hesitation the rights of those who reject religion - it is a tenet of my belief that one's free will is what defines us as humans. What saddens me, is the anger of those who refuse to accept that my belief is different to theirs. I respect those who choose to differ from my beliefs. It goes without question that they are carefully thought out. I just find it strange that someone can vilify my choice, insult my faith, question my motives and for what? I'm not really sure...

I'm sure the snide comments will follow, the cheap shots will come in, but really, I just don't think that hate and anger will get anywhere. An open dialogue between reasonable people - great! Just not sure where to find that these days...

Just saying...

This article as I see it is about the pope, not catholics or catholicism.

hatred of an organisation that has brought great comfort and good to many people.

You can't ignore the people who were brought nothing but pain, shame and sometimes death.

Those guilty should be brought to justice, and those obstructing such justice too.

That is exactly what is expected, yet it seems this is not on the table.

The church will continue to keep secret and protect those within its own walls - while daring to preach the contrary.
