Popeyes SA

Had them once in Singapore, better then KFC for sure. Hope they will open more stores. Local indigenous should be happy.

Three more this year as full stores, four or five drive-throughs as well. According to the ceo of the local (sa) holding company.

He also said they will be doing shrimp later on as well.

'Dry' is the first word that entered my mind as well.

You have very low standards................good for you. Sorry, nothing looks good in that pic.
Thanks:love:.

To the people saying it looks dry, I took a horrible photo 1.5 hours after purchasing the food. It was still pretty moist chicken at that point and the fries tasted great.

The taste, crispiness and heat is similar to zinger wings from KFC.

Honestly quality wise, fast food is fast food. Same quality as KFC or chicken licken. The only thing that disappointed me was the biscuit. I hope that's not the standard.

Tried it. As far as I'm concerned: Chicken Licken > Popeyes > KFC

Chicken Licken is the best by a large margin. I found Popeyes chicken to be a bit tasteless and lacking in salt/seasoning. First impression of the buttermilk biscuit when I saw it was that it wasn't fully baked. Looks very different from the ones they make in the States. Actually, it looked different from the ones you see on the screens in the restaurant. Also a lot smaller.

I tried it on Sat, It was good def not dry, proper crispy skin and it was juicy inside. you get two flavors, spicy and normal, i had the spicy. You also get the chicken breast strips called tenders, this was seriously good, soft yummy chicken with a dip of your choice. The mash and gravy was also good but the biscuit was not. i think you need a gravy with the biscuit.

I will go back for sure.

Forgot to add, also tried the burger. was also..you guessed it good. same as KFC type i would say.

I few more customers like you, and they will surpass KFC with just 1 store. Is there anything you didn't try?

My understanding is you should always have the "biscuit " with gravy. Otherwise you eating a dry scone and I don't know about you but i have never done that. Even fresh out the oven they need at least butter.

That chicken in the picture looks like it was in a street fight and it didn't come out on the winning side

Jinne pelle, eating a scone with chicken and then dipping the scone in gravy. Do we really need to bring that level of obesity to SA?

it wasn't alot at all, i had half a burger shared with wife, one piece of chicken and a piece of tender from my sons meal. we all shared just to try it out. I used to see the american adds on tv when i was watching hulu and had to try it :-)

The chips tatses like McCain masala chips you can buy in fordsburg. Wings were on par with KFC. Didn't have anything else.
