A smaller battery suitable for 5000w inverter

A 1.2kw 48v with built in converters to supply 12v and maybe a second port with variable output ie 9/12v would be the ultimate stepping stone product

ie cost can be close to 100ah battery as they pack the same storage capacity, just formulated differently , a bit more expensive bms

You can buy a 5000w inverter and use it as if it is a small unit
While bank is small

You can then expand it with solar panels

And live a normal lifestyle during the day, and save money on electricity , which you can plough back into battery until you have a bank big enough to carry you overnight

A diy battery lends better to this
I started with 4cells then 8 then 15 but had to have 2 stepping stone inverters,

that isn't alive anymore if i stumbled on the forum earlier the last one might have had some 2nd hand market value

As some have suggestions to deal with it's shortcomings before it takes out the machine

Personally, I prefer a mix (A back-up for my back-up)

Normal LS
Have Gizzu for my internet
24v Mecer + Solar for my TV lights and and
Gas stove for cooking

Back-up's back-up
Kool power station for Fridge & fans (Only to be used when power is out for days)
1 x 20 000 mAH battery bank for emergencies
2 x LED Lanterns for emergencies
Butane stove for emergencies

Ultimate Back-up
2.8 Kva Generator

Cause if anything dies I still have fall-back options.

Does those one plate Butane ones burn a lot slower than a gas stove? I am looking to get one of those.

I already have a Cadac cooker top that screws in on top of the smaller bottles but it is a bit awkward to work with. I know you get the 2 plate ones that will connect to my existing bottles but that takes up a lot of space. Just looking for something that I can use to fry some eggs in the morning for example.

A week for normal cooking. Longer if you just boil water and such.

Thanks but I have a 4 plate electric hop (renting so cant replace it). I just want something small and compact that I can use in case of power outage. The plan is to store it in a cupboard and take it out as needed. I don't want to have a gas bottle + pipe with regulator standing around.

The small portable stove burner is about the same as the small burners of the normal hob

ie down on power vs the 3kw wok ring of the hob

May be wrong salt

Economy wise can only imagine gas bottle will be way cheaper vs cans

How many watts do they use? My kettle = 2200w my Microwave is probably 1500w. You are looking at a expensive box like the Delta, Delta Max or Bluetti AC200MAX depending on the required wattage. https://www.takealot.com/bluetti-ac...D92533790?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclsrc=ds&gclsrc=aw.ds It would be best to boil water on gas. Capacity is not the problem with these, the max output wattage is the limiting factor.

A TV should be easy. Probably less than 200W. In that case get something like this https://www.solar-europe.co.za/prod...rolley-1kw-50ah-lithium-battery-24v-kl-1000w/ (not sure if this shop is legit) Its pure sine wave so you can use a fan on it as well. @AlphaJohn is getting one of these soon so we should get a mini review by the weekend

you can as arule of thumb count about 150-220wh for each use of the kettle ormicrowave for 5-6 min
and to count about 150wh for each hr of loadshedding

ie if you only use the ketle once and the mcrowave once and the tv 4hrs

a 1.2kwh battery will just make it ie a

the problem is you will need a high output inverter to power the microwave upping the cost

since most would then be 24v systems and up

so suddenly you are in for R20k systems
