I've got one of these: https://www.takealot.com/rct-850va-line-interactive-ups/PLID32714233 The battery doesn't last more than 30min after 1yr of running ONT + WiFi Router (that's the only load it has). To replace that, I can buy another SLA battery, but couldn't I just drop in one of these...

UPS Battery upgrade 7ah to 9ah
Two questions 1) Was it too soon to replace the batteries? With the last round of load shedding I noticed my 1200VA RCT UPS only managed to do 30 minutes at 13% load. Back in June 2018 after I replaced the batteries it could do 2 hours, although that was with a smaller 21"LED monitor and Ryzen...

that is a lot of money for 5.5kwh imo sure it comes with a fuse box and small db but stillanybody have experience with this monster? Thoughts?

does the ups have a fan, if it ran for long ie loadshedding without getting to hot no problem
i would not start adding devices because more capacity check how it handles the heat
if it has a fan
you can be more relaxed
or add a fan just don't forget to switch it on like i did
edit: i did not have this model ups, just thought to mention this
i was pulling tv + pc and internet (fibre +modem +switch)

At a pure dollar price, you're looking at about $300 for the normal price, so that's R6k. So this is probably just someone who brought in a few units themselves, hence the crazy markup.
Also, look what I discovered on Google by accident.
The page is redirecting right now so the page isn't technically live, but that's probably what these units are going to come in at once Ecoflow officially starts selling them, which according to the reps on Facebook is in the next couple of weeks.

Imo 1.2kwh is the minimum you buy
if you only want to power the internet
still buy a 100ah lithium and run the modem from the battery direct if you have 12v kit and run some wire into the roof with 12v led downlights
since 256wh isn't gonna power tv etc for 4 hrs anyway
i would not buy a pricey item that can essentially just be used for internet if 4hrs shedding

Why would you want to do that then you can just buy a couple of mini lithium UPSes? e.g. https://www.takealot.com/elecstor-18w-mini-dc-ups-12000mah-38wh/PLID91634882
I know that a 100ah will probably last for days but a mini ups is a much cleaner solution.

I would do that with an eye on the future
The way eskom is going everybody will need a pure sine wave inverter that is fridge friendly with a decent mppt
So that would be the next purchase
To trim down money wasted on devices that are temporary solutions or single device solutions

Not everybody can afford a 5kwh battery and5000w+ inverter combo
So they buy smaller often stepping stone devices
And later upgrade
if you know you are gonna need to upgrade
It's more cost efficient to just buy the right item now
Now yes you can use the stepping stone approach to slowly expand the battery bank over time until you eventually have enough to power the 48v system
ie use a cheap inverter for the first while and parallel batteries until you have decent bank
Then buy the big inverter
Hence why i say 100ah battery
It is the first lego piece

Normal LS
Have Gizzu for my internet
24v Mecer + Solar for my TV lights and and
Gas stove for cooking
Back-up's back-up
Kool power station for Fridge & fans (Only to be used when power is out for days)
1 x 20 000 mAH battery bank for emergencies
2 x LED Lanterns for emergencies
Butane stove for emergencies
Ultimate Back-up
2.8 Kva Generator
Cause if anything dies I still have fall-back options.
