Portable Power Stations

Or it could last only months.

Depending on what's meant the Ecoflow NCM units have a 2 year warranty while the LFP have a 5 year one. So if it starts to pack up after delivering a fraction of what's promised it could be replaced. Who knows. Rectron is the local agent I hear so it's not so bad as buying a no name brand without a local presence at all.

Just pulled the trigger on the Bluetti EB70 after weighing it up with the River 2 Max for a day or two.

Delta 2 is back in stock at Incredible. Also I see that the Takealot price is now R24,500 with IN STOCK indication. Scalping is over for the time being.

I got the Bluetti AC200Max for R30k on TaL. It has a 2.2kw inverter ( temporary overload to 4kw), and a 2kWh LiFePo battery. Charges from eskom and solar simultneously from empty to full in about 90 minutes. I only wish i bought the big 5kw one now. Gonna swing this one for R3k less.

Nice, post some pics and a sound clip of the fans if possible. The fan/noise levels of these portable units is a hot topic at the moment...

The D2 with extra battery is silent for low wattage. For high wattage output it's like a hairdryer. I don't use it for high wattage much though, so it's silent for me, 99% of the time. During charging the fans can go on sometimes but I keep charge to 500W only.

Some specials:

Li NCM, 1000 cycles to 80% capacity, 700W, 720Wh, charges in 1.5h 0-80%

Li NCM (presumed), ? cycles, 1000W, 1000Wh.

Li NCM, 500 cycles, 150W, 242Wh.

I would go for an LFP battery model though.

I hope for your sake you have all your fingers and toes crossed that you don't run into any technical issues because Bluetti Customer support / firmware is absolutely horrendous.

I got the AC200max on Takealot for R30k as well at end of feb and had it returned within a month. Got myself a Delta 2 with extra battery instead - I'd happily live with the occasional fan noise in exchange for proper firmware that doesn't break my machine. Will never be able to recommend Bluetti to anyone after that experience. At least its well built and from what I could tell, when the thing DID work, it lasted a while. All the best of luck to you - Maybe it's a good thing you intend to swing it before you have to deal with any of the potential headaches

Ja same here. I run 2 LED screens and PC and it's relatively quiet for the most part (quieter than the PC anyway). Now and then it will wind up a bit as the load on the PC increases but it dissipates just as fast. I've tried the 1200w charge and the fans are definitely pretty wild at that charge-rate and doesn't sound as though it's great for the battery. I charge it at half speed and it's still plenty fast enough to go from 20-80% faster than most other PPS on the market. What I DO wish the Delta 2 had was dual solar/AC charging, that would've been perfect.
Wonder if that's something which can be added in a firmware update?

I've followed your story on the Bluetti forum. Forewarned and all that. TBH, with the bigger unit's 5 yr cover it makes financial sense. I've seen multiple instances on ecoflow groups of people having the same technical issue you had. The ecoflow brand's support IS better, but that costs extra.

Here you go:
In the video the fans run at about 50db, and me making a pssst sound reached 15 db higher, while being a bit further from the meter.

I'm thinking of buying this:

to use in case of extended load shedding or a total grid blackout.
But I wouldn't normally be using these to generate power. We only use about R1200 worth of power per month hence for me it won't really make sense. I can just recharge between loadshedding episodes.
Also have a Bluetti AC50 which runs ultraportable laptops very well. It is NCM but has a 1000+ cycle life.

D2 with extra battery is a bit of a job though. The units may only be (dis)connected if powered off, what will happen if they're disconnected while powered up? Haha.
