Yes all Ecoflows have a built in MPPT solar charge controller.
Just connect solar panel straight to it

i would reckon it is to do with the design it may be that it works like a gate motor always from battery
hence why the they give problems once the battery is kaput

if the device works always from battery using it in this manner may cause more heat than it can handle ie inverting and charging

while other devices essentially run load of eskom while charging the battery or at least designed to deal with the heat of that use case
 
Flexopower will have the LITHIUM700 (672Wh/LiFePO4/ 2 year warranty ) available in September for R9690. Ecoflow DELTA2(1024wh/LiFePO4/5 year warranty) is on sale at builders for R21k. Delta2 has a few bells and Whistles more like the app and fast charging.

So in regards to customer support, product quality which of those 2 are the best buy?
 
I just bought a Magneto (had to get one quick and this is whats available here) 600w for my mom and I opened the box to a nice "Do not power devices with the Power station while it is charging"
How TF is she going to use it otherwise, she cannot be switching the TV and WiFi between this and the mains every day.
Can I ignore it or do I have to return it and drive to JHB to get something else?

I was also thinking of getting one of those units, but immediately discarded the idea when I saw that. They are on special everywhere, for good reason. Makes it very impractical for home use.

Not sure what will happen if used while charging?

It's a power station, not a UPS.

Unless she is very old it's not that hard to unplug and plug things in as needed? Most of the cheaper backup power stations don't offer the ability to charge and use devices at the same time. Some of them say it'll wreck the lifespan of the unit if I remember correctly.

I have the 200w version, not sure if it functions differently from the higher end units but mine will NOT allow the AC output to power on while charging.
Even though it included a little piece of paper that said do not power devices while charging.

If the AC is on and I plug in the charger it immediately cuts off the AC, I have to remove the charger and then press the AC button to turn it back on.
Which it also says that in my manual
The USB-A ports will continue to function while the Portable Power Station charges, but the AC and DC outputs will not function while the Portable Power station is being charged.

You may also be wondering why someone would buy it then, here was my reasoning
1. Well I got mine on the special(R2499.95) + 10% discount voucher from builders so I payed R2249.95
2.Pure Sinewave output and 202Wh capacity
3. I only need about 70Wh-100Wh max per day from it so the slow charging and manual switching doesn't bother me.
4. No way was I going to get anything similar at that price so I expected and accepted some downsides.

These devices are meant to act as battery banks but not EPS or UPS. Ecoflows apparently can be used as EPS (which means you can use them plugged in, and charge while using) but these like the older generation Bluetti cannot be used this way as it affects battery life. There is no bypass circuit which allows the power to go directly to your device and instead the battery gets drained and charged up continuously.

Ecoflow D2 at Builders is also R21.5K while it was R25K when it launched. Pensioners get 10% off on Wednesdays.

I think with a R100 relay one could design a setup that switches the load from Eskom to Inverter and back, when power fails or is restored

Anybody have experience in dealing with Ecoflow? My Delta 2 packed up while under light load, red exclamation mark despite restarting. Contacted Ecoflow support. Or should I return the thing to Incredible Connection? Who will be faster, any ideas? Thanks.
