Tried my luck on Friday.

The reply was a bit ambiguous, but enough "proof" for the CellC sales person to start phoning around.
After about an hour on the phone, somebody confirmed that it is possible, but when it was tried on the in-store system, it failed.
The store told me they would phone me back ,so I left. An hour or two later CellC sales person phoned me and I was told it could only be done by one (?) person that would only be available on Monday.
So lets see what happens next week. I'll give some feedback ... (PS, I would probably only be able to visit the shop towards the end of the week)
Hi chopsuey,
I can confirm that it is indeed possible, because I have managed to do it. It is not possible to do it instore however. What you need to do is the following:
1.) Purchase a normal Cell C prepaid SIM card and let the guys instore port your number to that SIM. It takes about 24 hours.
2.) Also pushase the Cell C prepaid data sim and RICA it, but don's open it yet.
3.) After your number is ported to the normal Cell C sim as per step 1 above, your number is on Cell C.
4.) Email [email protected] with your Cell phone number and the RICA Serial number of your data sim and ask them to do a number change.
Like I said in a previous post, it is not a simple or painless process, but it can be done.
I don't want to give out the contact details of Cell C employees here, but if you send me a personal message I will give you the name and email address of the guy who assisted me.
Regards,
gadnex
