I'm considering porting to Telkom from Vodacom. My VC contract expired a while ago and is now running month-to-month. I have requested VC to downgrade to prepaid and should be done by end of September 2021. Is the process to port still the same? SMS PORTME#ID#ICCID to 0811607678?
I've seen a few people say you can now only port at a Telkom store?

I just feel like Vodacom contract benefits don't really suit my use case and their voice and data bundles are really expensive. Plus their 4G network just doesn't work properly.

What do you guys think of Telkom's network? I'll be using an iPhone in Cape Town. Is VoWifi available on iPhone?

I've got it on my Telkom SIM. Not sure if it's something different on iPhone. I've got it on a Samsung

Do not do it. I did the same thing thinking i would save money and all i can say my telkom experience has been horrid.

If you stick to the urban areas the signal is good, the minute you travel out of town the signal is terrible to non existent, Telkom is supposed to switch over to the Telkom-R network which is a partnership network with vodacom but for some reason my iphone does not automatically switch over to that network, i have to manually select it, and even when i do that the connection constantly drops and reconnects so you can watch your battery drain in hours and calls drop like crazy.

I am also on an iphone and for some reason the facetime service does not connect or validate so you cannot facetime or validate any of your i cloud services, a message constantly pops up on your phone(especially when you have no signal) and this makes your phone inoperable because you just click ok and it keeps popping up and you cannot do anything on the phone, this only stops when you regain signal.

so my advice is go to MTN do not try telkom.
