Possible solution to rain slow network (worked really well for me)

Agree, this is changing channels on your internal WiFi network and got nothing to do with Rain's network. Thank for trying anyway.

Perhaps you should not dismiss the feedback of people with over 20 years in IT and communications technology as rubbish.
Selecting wifi channels on your router will NOT change your router's connection to the rain tower, or change the capacity of the rain network.
If, indeed, your PC is cabled and not on wifi, and you changed the wifi channels on your router and you got an improvement, then there is something else at play here. Probably time of day related. Or your router restarted when you changed the channel and established a connection to a different tower, or on a different 5g channel or band...
 


My Rain has been good since I got it .... years now... I have one of those original (legacy) accounts via Afrihost..

okay sir... wouldnt hurt to try and if it works then? whats wrong with trying?perhaps those people in IT should then not be so quick to dismiss ideas from someone willing to help and improve on something. What do those people lose? nothing so? instead of helping what are those people with IT experience doing? my 2cents. appreciate your feedback though
 
My apologies guys. Just wanted to share something i was trying. I would be lying if i said i know a lot about IT. Appreciate all the feedback guys.

It can be you are near the tower that why your signal strength will be in that speed...I been with rain since the started... Travel akit wiyh thw sim in a small pocket router.. Did also test as i am in different city's...notice city by city different speed readings... Some good some very bad.... So the tower ia playing a big roll....
 
These are my current stats. i am close to the tower so maybe that was just a placebo.

Because unlike you he knows what he is talking about.

You clearly don’t know the difference between a LAN and a WAN.
 
Best solution I've found is

Find where your Rain tower is , place router on an elevated position in front the window facing the direction of the tower.

Adjust the position of the router slightly when speed drops.

i don't know why moving my router a few cm results in a x100 speed increase

Hello everyone, so after checking out this forum, I feel that I would have to ask my first question.
I have a Huawei B315 router with a rain sim in.
I'm curious as to how I can choose an alternative LTE band, is it possible?

Yes but I found that my router only transmits on one really. Go to connection and look at the first auto setting, you can select between 3g,4g,3g/4g, 1800mhz and 2400Mhz. Mine works on either 4g selected or 1800Mhz. Some folks have flashed their routers to show an additional band using a tool.

My best opinion is to get decent external antenna for the huawei router....ya i notice there is blind spot is rooms where the router ia due to build in poor antenna...even if your router show full bar on the signal strength that will also not mean that you will get decent speed.... Ita just thia network Rain ia a big headache now with the lockdown... Due to everone is use the network heavy....

Log into your router... 192.168.8.1... admin username..

Yes you router can go to any bands but the area were you in does it support that frequency???
