Possible solution to rain slow network (worked really well for me)

Remember guys all that is on Rain network there is a big problem with the network... Speed is not stable and its been like this this since lockdown started...so is really nothing to do with the Lte Router.. Yes a external antenna will be better then the build in antenna... There will be a difference in the speed test... But for now with this network Rain its comings from them....

Wifi and Cellular are on very different frequencies.
This might fix your slow wifi speeds, and by extension make your wifi connection better which can affect your access to the internet (especially at distance), but that's about it.

If your wifi affects your LTE signal, you've got a dangerously faulty router, and you can only really test that with really
expensive frequency monitors, and not a wifi scanner app on your phone.

To OP posting this, would be nice to see what tests you performed?
LTE is really sensetive to time of day, other users around and which way the birds are flying (joke, maybe), and it's more probably this causing it rather than wifi.

Still a good tip though! It's good to have your router wifi on the least busy frequency, channel 1,6, or 11 on 2.4 Band
5Ghz is generally not very populated, so take the lowest numbered unpopulated channel.

I got a tool to measure my signal, at the moment my RSSI is -85DB and my RSRP is -103DB, not great, but I still get some signal.
Witch external antenna could you recommend?
I live a bit outside a town, and have no idea where the closest rain tower is, I suspect it's roaming on Vodacom, not too sure though.
And a map or screenshots won't help, because I have a visual impairment.

There's a android app called open signal, that can help you locate your tower and where best to place an antennae. For an antennae, best is the poynting range but others may comment better on models.
 
I think at the moment, the best way to get better rain speeds is to use Telkom LTE or ANY other capped LTE offering unfortunately. Keep the rain sim as spare in case you run out and limp towards the end of the month on it.

I am interested, using Vodafone R216 mobile router on 24/7 Rain package
 
Sounds like you had lots of noise in your area meaning too many people on the same channel. I tried that recently it didnt help much. I used wifi analyzer from playstore to check for the least used channel and an app called open signal to locate my tower and do speed test. Best result i got from my endeavours was 1 extra bar on my router. Even climbed on my roof to test my theory. Long story short i realised cant do much about isp's congested towers and the support agents can only reset your connection in hope that you find a less congested tower closer.
 
What band did you force your router too, and by "external antennas" Do you mean the standard external ones that come with your router, or ones that you have to mount outdoors?

Forced it to B38 2500.
Tested with internal antennas only and DL speed was 1Mbps.
I used the standard antennas (comes with the router) and got 7Mbps.
Then I used the external/outdoor antenna (Poynting Xpol6) and got 14Mbps.

Its not the greatest speeds but it is an improvement.
 
Can't find any info on "A0c6"
Follow the video I posted before and see if it helps. If it doesn't work, reset router to default mode.
