[Possibly] Stolen Billion Wireless-G router

I was working the late shift tonight and a guy came in and told me about his sob story and tried to sell me a Billion BIPAC 7300G Wireless-G Router for [an unspecified amount].

How would I know if it is stolen or not? (I believe it is... No power adapter, no box etc. Just router and antenna)

Tell him you will buy it. But first ...

Ask him if he will give you a lift to the local police station, just to see if someone recently lost a router. If he freezes up or starts to turn a lighter colour then you have your answer.
 
Yeah I just want to find the owner and return it as buying it would be of no benefit to me anyways... (I have the router in front of me, I didn't give the guy any money for it). I just hate paperwork.
 
i'll buy it, sheesh, no shops are open and I still got power supply from my old 7300 that blew

my bloody second router now just packed up for no reason, so I'm in desperate need....
 
I just realized it is of use to me... I can use it as a Wireless AP :)

Problem is, I need a power adapter for it
 
Get a power adapter or use someone else's.
Login to the mainframe of the router and if there is someone's username and password settings on the PPPoE, then it could be stolen.

What person sells you a router with THEIR login details?

It's been unplugged for ages, all the settings will be gone

It should retain settings even when unplugged. I left a router unplugged and in "storage" as a backup for about 18 months and when i finally tried to use it again all the settings were still there.

I see. I woke up this morning and went over to my router, checked the voltage and it was 12V, 1A... Just what I needed... Only to unplug it and find that it doesn't fit into the Billion. The closest to that I have is a 14V 0.9A... But I don't want to try it in case I blow the circuits or summin.

EDIT: Just checked now, the 14V, 0.9A doesn't fir either...

/Sigh
 
The guy was probably drunk and trying to get some extra cash.
