PostBox-Courier.com how to

No idea if they will collate, email them and ask. vinodh says in the first post, that they reply quickly.

Yeah did that and Gary promptly replied. There's no collation of parcels at this stage but they are looking into doing this later this year.

He did point out though that if your order is less than R500, it probably won't attract customs duties and VAT. So perhaps lumping stuff together can have its downside.

I've been using this service now for a few months, and must say it's fantastic. The speed of getting the parcel is unbelievable, from their UK depot to me is overnight, from US depot to me is 2 days. Their pricing is perfect as well.

I give them an A++++

First time using them for me. Bought some comics off Ebay and sent it to the US depot. Let's wait and see :)

I bought something off Amazon (two items with two separate delivery dates). First one was scheduled for delivery yesterday, but according to UPS/Amazon, could not deliver it (no one to receive it). I emailed Gary at their customer service, and he said he will follow-it up and request re-delivery.

On Street View, the depot appears to be in some run-down industrial/warehouse area.... funnily enough, there is a UPS van in the Street View shot! :)

Hope that doesn't happen to me! Did your second shipment go through fine?

Ok, didn't realise it was a public holiday yesterday (Martin Luther King Day), but guess it wasn't for UPS. Hopefully re-delivers to them today (22nd).

Is there any way to track parcels sent from postbox-courier.com?

Yep thanks for the info, was useful.
Just noticed I minor difference between what you say and the web-site says:
You say John_123456 Smith
Whereas they say John123456 Smith

Or did I misread?

I've ordered a Nexus 10 from the US Playstore and I'll be relying on PostBox-Courier to ship it here.

Will post back with my success/failure and taxes and so forth.

Can say the follow thus far tho:
I paid $399 for the Nexus 10 16GB and then had to pay New York tax which was around 9% or something.

So if you do order and ship to their US address, you are probably going to be paying US tax :(

If PostBox-courier has an Oregon Depot, try and have it sent there (depends on the local US shipping cost).. You won't get charged US sales tax if its shipped there... I used Shipito previously and if parcels are sent to their Oregon warehouse then there's no additional tax.. You will still however pay the local ZA vat/customs etc.

Unfortunately they only seem to have a NY depot, so not possible to avoid the tax if you use them!

I just received my first package today using Postbox-Courier. Amazing considering it left the UK on the 23/01. Was delivered home with no further VAT or customs charges payable.

The whole process was pretty easy and I was kept informed by Gary via email every step of the way. There was a slight hiccup with my order from Amazon but it was a problem on their side as their courier delivered my package to the incorrect address. After giving Gary the tracking details he personally drove the delivery address and picked up my parcel and had it shipped over to me.

Great service and I will definitely use them again!

Good to hear koogs. Thanks for the feedback.

Apparently US parcels go via the UK to SA. I heard on email from Postbox-Courier.

Great, what did you buy and what was the cost of shipping?

Nice tut vinodh :). MODs should sticky this for future reference.

When the time is right, i shall be using them and post my experience too.

Good experience with PostBox Courier

Hey all,

My wife and I bought some things a few months ago online from the UK for our house renovation (door seals, fittings, etc) as we couldn't source them in SA at a reasonable price - the UK sellers wouldn't post/ship to SA so I had them posted to my sister in the UK for free. If the items were bought locally, it would have cost in the region of R2k-R3k - managed to source them in the UK for around R900 in total with free UK shipping.

After signing up with PostBox Courier and following the instructions, my sister finally managed to post the parcel locally to PBC's UK address the morning of Monday 21st January. The parcel showed on PBC's tracker as "received" on the 22nd January (paid them by Paypal the same day), "shipped" when I checked on the 23rd January, and had it at my home on the afternoon of 24th January - amazing timelines.

Parcel detail was:
Value £100 declared value
Weight 1.51kg
Height 21.5cm
Width 31.0cm
Length 40.0cm
Shipping Cost £31.78 (R457.58 with our bad exchange rate of 14.41)
No duty charged

Even with the seemingly high Rand converted shipping cost, the goods, including shipping, cost me about half of what I'd pay in SA, so in my mind this was a bargain.

I'd highly recommend PostBox Courier if you're needing to get something from the UK to SA fast and at a reasonable price. Can't comment on the USA to SA times, but would be surprised if they are not similar.

I am going to order some stuff from the US today, will report back on my experience.
