Potential lawsuit against Seagate

Ok well seems my hard-drive ST31000340AS firmware: SD15 is one of the drives on the fail list, hasn't failed yet tho. I'm trying to fcking email the c#nts but they require registration to get a email address and when you register it tells you that your account is restricted and can't be accessed, email the admin. BUT FCKING HOW!!!!

They are totally useless bunch, seriously I think a class action lawsuit is needed to put them in their place. I'm not in the mood for this BS, I'm never buying Seagate again, WD is just so much better.

I had no problem with Seagate when I sent my drive in to them to be replaced... I hate WD because they will not deal with end users in our country...

Unfontunately we are unable to do business with anyone located in your region due to the current political state of your country, please contact one of the following companies within your country...

Ok but HOW do I email them? Their article goes on about the problem and then they say email them for support, but when you try to email them it's not possible, so I don't see how it's any different from WD!?

I don't knwo why you should have to e-mail them. Where did you purchase your drive?

Did you type in your S/N and it said your drive is affected? (see http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=2467483&postcount=35) My SD15 drive isn't affected. I think it has to do with where it was manufactured, when it was manufactured and which firmware.

Serial check has been offline since I tried it earlier today... FAIL
I then contacted Live Support - never seen anything like this. They were useless - EpicFAIL

In all my years of working with Seagate HDD's have I never seen such issues with their hard drives...

...seems they've lost the plot somewhere along the line.

The problem seems to be related to a fix that was introduced to the firmware release SD15. SD14 had some serious performance issues due to a bug and maybe they were feeling the heat. From what I read, it sounds like the failure rate could be 100% although it normally takes between 3 and 6 months to get there. They have taken the firmware patch offline to fix problems with it. In the mean time, I won't be putting on my machine until I have my new WD drive in the machine so I can to another full backup. I backup regularly but it's still a pain to redo the system.

In all, this is making Seagate look really bad. They denied the problem while people were happily going out and buying more faulty drives.

Perhaps the distributors and retailers who must have been aware of the issue should have not made them available to purchase as well.

One would think they would be aware of it. We spoke to Frontosa today and they didn't have a clue. Probably find that the local guys are only getting the bad stock in now.

Unfortunately my 500gb 7200.11 drive is one of the affected drives and failed in early december, not knowing what the problem was. i now know and waiting for a solution. the irony is, that was my backup drive with everything important to me. There is a solution but voids the warranty. what to do...what to do???

well im an uninformed idiot...I went and bought a 500gig 7200.11 yesterday...So will this stupid issue affect me?
