Potential lawsuit against Seagate

I have two Seagate drives currently on their way to be replaced so this is quite interesting.

I'm in for this.
Too many p^ssed off clients that I sold the 500 G drives to - failed, and made Intratec rich.
And once Intratec have recovered the data the Seagate warranty is history - so the client has to pay for the data recovery and a new hard drive.

Has anyone actually tried to contact Seagate? Good luck, it seems like once they have your money you can be damned.

Not to take this thread OT but i am having problems with two Seagate Drives they aren't that new (120Gb)
They seem to like making windows run a chkdsk on them...
Or cause errors while boooting on ubuntu...
How do i contact support on this?

In all my years of working with Seagate HDD's have I never seen such issues with their hard drives...

lol i have plenty of their 7200.11 500gig hdd's around and all used for backup so now i have to buy the competitions hard drives to back up my back ups, well done Seagate nice way to gift away market share 
p.s. i only use Seagate so this is going to be a shock to the system

I know T_L, it's saddens me 
For the longest time Seagate = quality in my mind. But I've had drives failing on me for a little while now (everything from 120 - 500gb) and I just figured it was me.

I setup a server with 8x 500GB Seagate drives for a 4TB raid array. For the first couple of months I had one to two drives fail a month. After many swap outs and rebuilds the current set of drives seem to be behaving.

It's no wonder their drives have gone downhill so badly, but how they're reacting to it is just appalling.Praying seems to be as reliable as email. Or go ask/rant on their forums until they delete it.
Ouch.
The only 500Gb drive I have is the 500GB Seagate Free Agent External Hard Disk. Only use it for storage backups.

You can check if your Seagate drive is affected here
Enter the serial number (not model number) which can be found on the drive itself and by other means (e.g. drivedetect although it won't work in 64bit vista on my pc).
Make sure you type in UPPERCASE letters and note that the first character is a number, the next two are letters and the third is a number (mine was 0/zero and not O/"oh" in this case).
My 500GB 7200.11 with SD15 firmware isn't affected
To make sure that your serial number is indeed correct, you can go here, select the correct country, type in model and serial number, type in the words in the image for anti-bot measures and click submit. It'll tell you until when your warranty is valid
Good luck testing your drives!

Would you mind typing in their serial numbers as mentioned in the above post of mine and telling us if it says that they are indeed affected by bad firmware? Sorry to hear about your drives though!
RELIEF!!!! Thanks for posting that link... Pulled the Seagate box out and my drive is NOT affected!!! Yipeee! My old external drive was affected and I sent it to Europe and they replaced it gladly with no cost to me and obviously replaced it with an un-affected one
Google 500GB Seagate problems.
Better not be... I have a 500GB that I use to store all my data on

In about 2001/2 I was selling hardware. I remember every single 10GB Maxtor (I think they were Maxtor) failed. I must have sold about 40 in a year and every single one failed. Should have had a lawsuit back then.
