Power FM goes live

Power FM, a new commercial talk radio station which broadcasts throughout Gauteng and surrounding areas, goes live

Hmm. I am not familiar with a lot of the names. But they going to struggle to beat the money show on 702 - still my number 1 show on talk radio.

That's great we need more talk radio.
2 questions though. What language are they broadcasting in, and are these presenters in anyway affiliated to the ANC?

what were your impressions from what you heard?

Like Metro FM, without a lot of music. Have to drive to a meeting in a bit, will get to hear the last bit of Eusebius' (sp?) show

Their name sounds like it's something to listen to when your power is off or maybe a dedicated station for tracking load shedding etc...

They have Thabo Mbeki at 21h00 on Thursday night. Not too shabby for a brand new station! :D

madd props to Given, have been waiting forever to find them on TuneIn, a south african would know most of those presenters, and yes, most of them do actually support the anc because they are south african

What's wrong with the question? The article doesn't list the language and I'm wondering if this is just more political/gupta funded propaganda like the new age newspaper or if it's worth tuning into.

The reception issues make it difficult to listen to while driving, not always clear, but content wise pretty okay.

The only talk powerhouse there is Tim Modise. Will give it a try but so far their lineup looks weak.

The name and profile of DJ's makes it sound like a black elite talk radio station.

I'm not sure whether that's a good (or bad) thing.

I've just found it on my phone (Lumia) listed as 'Can-I' (98.7FM).

Too bad, I don't have my headphones with me today.

Eusebius MacKaizer and Siki Mgabadeli also established themselves in their previous shows. Lawrence Dube has been in the game for over 20 years.

Have to agree with you. I do not know the said folk presenting. And I personally wouldn't tune into Eusebius McKaiser. I mainly get to listen to 702 in the morning and afternoons on may to and from work.

Bruce Whitfield and the Money Show are a must listen to. And then Sports Talk with Udo thereafter. I also enjoy the music over the weekend. So unless something massively rocks the winning shows currently on, I am unlikely to move.

If they were real south africans they wouldn't let the ANC destroy it.
