Stage 1
We have a 3-phase Siemens unit, installed in 1995. On 29th November, after load-shedding ended, power was not restored in the house. The display read "FAULT-C"
After waiting 6 days, I got the Ward Councillor to intervene with CoCT electricity faults. The following day someone from the electricity dept called and gave me a 20-digit reset code. This worked immediately and power came back on
The following day the same fault re-appeared. The same reset code did not work
Yesterday we have been without electricity for 12 days. More than 20 calls to the depot. Often I am told that I am perhaps 8th in the queue. On 5 occasions I am told the query has been closed
I called again and started to complain to the lady who answered the phone. She was having none of it, told me I was not entitled to complain and not to expect people to jump at my command. I asked if it was reasonable to wait nearly 2 weeks for some service. When she heard I had been given a reset code, she told me I would be prosecuted for tampering with council property
Today I got an electrician to connect me to my neighbour's supply. They are away in Australia until 19th January and agreed over the phone that this is ok
I visited the contractors depot next to the Wynberg Fire Station today. They were quite shocked that I have to wait all this long time and will sent a "team" tomorrow at 08h30. Here's hoping
Stage 2 - 7 days later...
Guys came this afternoon - "The reset code is 49369166171310800000". They were here 10 mins
I looked over his shoulder while he put it in. This could have been told me over the phone 2 weeks back, but no, it isa secret.
