Last year we used to joke that permanent Stage 2 would help get us through necessary maintenance. How things have changed in 12 months. Another 4GW is gone, and zero maintenance is being done.

Actually if they had literally done stage 2 and there was no damage done by striking, it probably would've
 
The IPP favours whomever pays them :). At one point we were supposed to get help from Kelvin and we did for a brief period, but Eskom threw their toys and we stopped.
Eskom tried to appropriate Steenbras as well at one point.

From what I could gather, CoCT's response at the meeting with Eskom was basically:

Sadly CoJ bent over, but also as they don't really own it, they couldn't do much. Tshwane as Rooiwall and Pretoria West Power Station that could knock off 4 stages for Tshwane

More like had, do they still exist?
 
Have to wonder why some big / international interest doesn't declare they're planning to build power stations here. Even solar in the right place would prosper, and help if big enough.
