Whereas in the past it would be that 3/4 slots would be more around the mornings and afternoons, with stage 1/2 around the evenings, so that even if we did get a stage 2/3 scenario we'd be almost at stage 3 anyway. It has improved a bit, but it really does depend on the area, as ours was more like stage 4 at 3/4 and now more like 3 at the 2/3 thing.
They also have this annoying habit of shifting the times, so today you'd be 2 to 4pm, but tomorrow you're 4 to 6, which they say was to give people a break on the same times, problem is this causes havoc on stages higher then 4.
Cause now you're off for 4 days for 4 hours at the same time every morning and every night.

But ya, lots of room for improvement. Thing is I don't think they'll bother further, and it's ok-ish.. or we've become boiled frogs too, but I'm ashamed to say that's okay too by now :-/
 
Dare we dream that S4+ will mostly become a thing of the past this year?
I.E.: are there any real signs of growing competency?

Look it's far better then that stupid schedule they had for 2 months last year, not sure which dim witted muppet drew that up. But they could've just gone back to the schedule they had previously as sadly it worked. It's not like they could stick to their stupid 2 hour schedule for higher stages. Cause having power for 2 hours and 2 hours off up to 4 times a day was worse then 2 4 hours 12 hours apart.

Maybe we all need more time to get the feel for the new one, but seems better than that old one you mentioned, to us.

We might be confused by the later block shift we had though.

Oh wait till higher levels of LS and you get 4 nights of the exact same times out... You'll know how stupid it still is, the old one at higher stages would at least mix up the 4 hour stints, you'd not have the exact same 4 hours every night, you'd have maybe 2 nights with it.

TotalEnergies is preparing for the resumption in early 2024 of its stalled $23 billion Mozambique liquified natural gas (LNG) project with a view to launching commercial operations in 2028. As Africa’s largest foreign direct investment project, it will directly employ almost 15 000 people and generate significant revenue for the state.

TotalEnergies, which holds a holds a 26.5% stake in the LNG mega project, had to declare force majeure in early April 2021 after an attack by an insurgent group linked to the Islamic State in late March the northern town of Palma, killing many civilians in areas close to LNG infrastructure projects.

TotalEnergies had, in March 2021, announced the resumption of its project following the closure and evacuation of its staff that January after the insurgents conducted sporadic attacks in areas close to its Afungi complex. That announcement was clearly the trigger for the insurgents’ attack.

Although this bit isn't overly encouraging:
Technically the Rwandan and the SAMIM deployments “support” Mozambique’s security forces. The reality is that operations have often not been coordinated and that intelligence sharing has been fragmented.

The withdrawal of the SAMIM may reduce operational complexity with less security actors. What remains a fact is that the defence and security forces of Mozambique continue to struggle operationally, and training and professionalism are urgent. The most trusted security forces in Cabo Delgado are the Rwandans, followed by the local militias and the SAMIM.

The government of Mozambique recognises the difficulties it faces and has recently changed the conscription law from two years to five to avoid churn, especially as currently trained troops are rotated out soon after training. Conscripts will, however, never provide the effectiveness Mozambique requires and attracting better volunteers for signing up for five years must be an important objective.

From what you've said earlier, if they alter (mess up) the day back to what it was then the night doesn't suffer as much in your above scenario but the day is more krap again. Would rather have a better day personally, and like to think S4+ is at least rarer now..

Maybe you should try mix the two, see what you come up with?
Then we could ask @TheChamp whoever the spy here is to forward it for consideration :)

My fav for transport is Hydrogen, but slow in coming. I think BMW made a car recently.

BMW had a hydrogen 7 series running around Munich decades ago.

Toyotas hydrogen Mirai is on its 2nd generation.

I didn't realise quite how important the proposed new gas-to-power plants were in terms of maintaining gas supply to industry as the supply situation is changing soon.

summary
- Sasol currently has a pipeline to gas fields in Southern Mozambique, from which it sells some on to other industries in Gauteng and KZN. But supply from there is running out and Sasol also needs more gas for its operations so from 2026 will be using all that gas itself.
- Gas finds in Northern Mozambique have had delays in development due to violence in the area, finds in SA are far away and far from developed, leaving (more expensive) imported gas as the only option.
- There are two proposed new LNG terminals to meet future demand, a more advanced project in Mozambique (which could be linked to the existing pipeline) and one in Richards Bay.
- Work on these needs to start soon (within a few months) to avoid a shortage from 2026, but industrial demand is not enough to justify the large LNG terminal investments. So gas-to-power plants would provide the necessary demand for the projects to go ahead. But a large gas-to-power plant next to the Mozambique terminal would require SA to agree to buy the power as there's not enough electricity demand there.
- SA would prefer to build its own gas plants but then there's a debate around whether they will fill in for variable generation sources/breakdowns elsewhere, or whether we will really have a 3GW baseload plant in Richards Bay which would use a huge amount of imported gas.

Things would be a lot simpler if we had a big pipeline to gas fields in Northern Moz instead of having to import LNG by ship from other parts of the world! Ah well.

This new schedule still sucks ass. Multiple times where my area has 8-10pm LS and then again 12am-2am.

My area too sometimes. I think the thinking is most peeps are then sleeping, doesn't really worry us here.
