First time I hear of this, I always assumed they just prefer not to have batteries. Why are they not allowed to have batteries?
What I meant was they're not allowed to feed the grid, less capital outlay to run a generator during power failure than to install batteries. Introduce a peak and off peak charge and you will see batteries being installed to store solar to get paid peak rates in the evening imho.

Due to a further loss of generating capacity, loadshedding will be increased to Stage 4 from
17:00 – 22:00 tonight.

Maybe the DA can call for a referendum.

Do you care if Eskom suffers 'cos you got paid for your excess power?
[] Nope
[] DA just makes hot air

Luckily our area doesn't increase the length of the slot at S4. /phew

Who does that? We just get more slots with an increase in Jo'burg, and not gonna add to current 17-22 mentality.

You should check your Joburg schedule. The length of the slots starts to grow from S6 (at least the last slot). They grow to 4 hour intervals.

Jo'burg City Power schedules for stage 5 upwards are blank, mydorpie.com just makes all stages above 3 the same...

Not on social media, anyone have a better online schedule? TIA

and make batteries exempt from import tax and VAT.
But no, our people rather want a giant flag.

They have peak and off peak in pretty much every tariff book in the country for commercial/industrial sizes... So, yes people do exactly that.
