So how did they shed 6,700MW when we were on stage 6? Where did the other 700MW come from?

Straining the "collective tolerance" would be my speculative guess... ie pushing/demanding of the remaining fleet, beyond their rated limits. I'd imagine that the frequency of our grid dropped a bit lower than 50Hz for those couple of hours but can't confirm as I wasn't testing myself.
Disclaimer: Just my amateur opinion & am probably wrong about this (presumably such things would be ruled out). But this is SA, so I suppose anything is possible right? especially when we're teetering on a national blackout, throwing literally everything including the kitchen sink at the problem

A more plausible theory would be that this is all controlled/planned shutdown of the plants, to justify & usher-in the new green/renewable power deals with the US, and that the timing of RamaPoser's recent visit over there was of specific pertinence in that regard

That figure is at peak time so switching of the same amount of blocks is going to result in more energy being shed.
