Hopefully they start teaching these definitions at schools so the future generations know what they are talking about ant aren't as confused as us old ballies.
Nope, prolly on a need to know basis only.

We are on municipal load shedding (Msunduzi - PMB), but have just been told that Eskom has started switching off parts municipality (half at a time) directly, on top of regular load shedding schedule. It has just been implemented.

WTF????
That municipality has long been ill-run and bankrupt. The chickens coming home to roost? Did they give the reason for the "special" rolling blackouts?

I miss PMB. Was last there five years ago.

Edit: I know they've had electricity infrastructure issues because of a lack of maintenance... Probably related to that.

Dude... as much as you might miss it, don't come back. This town has gone to ****.

Seems like some capacity improvement.

Quite a lot, if we had Octgs we could actually have had no load shedding, but apparently load shedding is cheaper then diese

So, that's 27144 in overall capacity plus LS 3500. A healthy margin for them to **** things up some more.

PMB is sadly disintegrating before one's eyes. BTW they have now officially confirmed the shedding is due to the debt to Eskom to the tune of 543 million.

As per local chber of commerce, apparently the municipality collected some 900million just the other day, but did not pay over a penny of that.

The shedding schedule is 5 hours on, 2.5 hrs off, ongoing.

It means nothing.

8 units in multiple locations can just fall over without warning.

I've been saying that for yonks. It's not eskoms job to save the country.

If they didn't burn diesel for baseload and just use pumped storage for peaks and diesel for emergencies, they would be rolling in it and would actually have some money to fix their ****.

They should have voted like Howick.

If that stupid accident didn't happen at Kusile in later October, the 3 units would have Eskom's capacity at roughly 27400 MW !

Hopefully the saboteurs have taken their leave...but then that still leaves incompetence.
I'm still not buying the saboteur excuse. I believe its lack of coal quality control (those damn trucks: bring back rail) and dumb ass controllers on scene and running the system (grid) at max (vol 11) that causes this.
