I thought its called load reduction? Or is that something elseThey call it load curtailment. They really should be showing it on their stats but its probably quite a big number.

I believe load reduction is used when transformers are overloaded (illegal connection etc) an they cut just those local lines.I thought its called load reduction? Or is that something else
I think it might be the same? On their Twitter feed they used to frequently post areas which were experiencing load reduction but now that seems to have disappeared.I thought its called load reduction? Or is that something else
It would disappear as there is load shedding, they don't normally go togetherI think it might be the same? On their Twitter feed they used to frequently post areas which were experiencing load reduction but now that seems to have disappeared.
Nope, prolly on a need to know basis only.Hopefully they start teaching these definitions at schools so the future generations know what they are talking about ant aren't as confused as us old ballies.
That municipality has long been ill-run and bankrupt. The chickens coming home to roost? Did they give the reason for the "special" rolling blackouts? We are on municipal load shedding (Msunduzi - PMB), but have just been told that Eskom has started switching off parts municipality (half at a time) directly, on top of regular load shedding schedule. It has just been implemented.
WTF????

I miss PMB. Was last there five years ago.
Edit: I know they've had electricity infrastructure issues because of a lack of maintenance... Probably related to that.
Quite a lot, if we had Octgs we could actually have had no load shedding, but apparently load shedding is cheaper then dieseFeedback from Evening Peak 21/12/2022 19:33 Total demand: 26 187MW

Seems like some capacity improvement.
So, that's 27144 in overall capacity plus LS 3500. A healthy margin for them to **** things up some more.Feedback from Evening Peak 21/12/2022 19:33 Total demand: 26 187MW

PMB is sadly disintegrating before one's eyes. BTW they have now officially confirmed the shedding is due to the debt to Eskom to the tune of 543 million. That municipality has long been ill-run and bankrupt. The chickens coming home to roost? 8 units in multiple locations can just fall over without warning.
I've been saying that for yonks. It's not eskoms job to save the country.Quite a lot, if we had Octgs we could actually have had no load shedding, but apparently load shedding is cheaper then diese
It's all meaningless. So, that's 27144 in overall capacity plus LS 3500. A healthy margin for them to **** things up some more.
They should have voted like Howick.PMB is sadly disintegrating before one's eyes. BTW they have now officially confirmed the shedding is due to the debt to Eskom to the tune of 543 million.
As per local chber of commerce, apparently the municipality collected some 900million just the other day, but did not pay over a penny of that.
The shedding schedule is 5 hours on, 2.5 hrs off, ongoing.

I'm still not buying the saboteur excuse. I believe its lack of coal quality control (those damn trucks: bring back rail) and dumb ass controllers on scene and running the system (grid) at max (vol 11) that causes this.Hopefully the saboteurs have taken their leave...but then that still leaves incompetence.
Which one?If that stupid accident didn't happen at Kusile in later October, the 3 units would have Eskom's capacity at roughly 27400 MW !
