It does appear that they are loadshedding more than they really need to.
Does this shortfall really warrant stage 6 all day?
What I want to know if load shedding to this extent actually helps the teams get more work done on infrastructure

This is probably as much of an update as we're going to see.

But stage 8+ seems to be a forgone conclusion now. When they start denying things this vehemently it usually means it's a given

He says stage 6 will be maintained into the weekend.

“We are just updating our schedules for higher stages of load shedding. We obviously from our side attempt every means of not reverting towards that stage. I must say that we were close to that earlier this week, it is finally balanced in terms of a number of factors, and therefore we need to manage it closely. At this stage, we don’t foresee going to stage eight but we need to also be responsible and ensure that those schedules are clear if the situation forces us there.”

I think it was pretty obvious when we saw how much demand had spiked due to shifting loads these past few weeks. Winter is going to be an absolute ****ing shitshow.

The last couple of days have been Eskom playing tennis with the yes it was stage 8, no it wasn't, and now back to yes it was. Guess the figured they couldn't deny it because people have eyes.

Definitely. Honestly I think stage 8 is best case scenario.

Lol, while Eskom refuses to issue media releases about getting us off Stage 6, they found time to release one about supporting the "e-mobility sector". What a joke!

And crucial "station buildup update guy" has apparently gone awol, but "handy laundry tips guy" is still churning out tweets like there's no tomorrow. One can only laugh...

We keep saying winter will be a shitshow. But will it?

We know they have 9GW that’s meant to be back by then.

If all the units that are meant to come back, do - worse case is we will be in the same situation we are now?

They were meant to have units back this week, supposed to have been down to 4 by Wednesday/Thursday and then 3 onwards. Issue is, the units come back online and either they, or others go down immediately after. They haven't been able to maintain more than 26GW with the generation that have since... August last year? The only time things will improve meaningfully is when the koeburg unit and kusile come back online.

Just had a look at my schedule for the week, assuming we're still on Stage 6, what a shocker when I saw Area 10 (City of Cape Town) will have 8 f**king hours of continues loadshedding during the night, Tuesday from 8PM until Wednesdag 4AM. Looks like it's because Wednesday is the 1st of March and the schedule changes completely.

Damn, what a complete mess!

More likely the best case. You are forgetting that stuff keeps breaking/sabotaged/weather dependant aswell.
