Best to let sleeping dogs sleepMy business in Kempton Park hasn't had load shedding since Friday. True story. Sure they'll work it out soon enough though.

Yip. We've saved about 4k in diesel. 150kva AKSA generator.Best to let sleeping dogs sleep
We import quite a bit from Mozambique (over 1000 MW from Cahora Bassa) as well as from Namibia when they have good rains. Of course we also export electricity to Nam but as far as I know we're still a net importer when it comes to power.![]()
Mantashe doubles down — says load-shedding could end this year
Mantashe’s statement comes after electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa told an ANC NEC meeting that it is impossible to stop load-shedding by the end of the year.mybroadband.co.za
"He also highlighted the rejection of the Karpowership project in South Africa, stating that it works elsewhere and there is no reason it shouldn’t work here.
“Three, import energy from neighbouring countries. Four, focus on the skills,” Mantashe added."
BROTHER WANTS HIS TENDER MONEY FROM KARPOWERSHIP!
And what neighbouring countries? Last i saw none of them are generating excess power, some are buying from us...
We don't import from Namiba, they barely produce enough power to supply JHB. We do import 1600MW from Moz though and we export 900MW back for the Moz smelters. We import quite a bit from Mozambique (over 1000 MW from Cahora Bassa) as well as from Namibia when they have good rains. Since the 80's. Not sure why people keep bringing it up like its a new thing. We import quite a bit from Mozambique (over 1000 MW from Cahora Bassa) as well as from Namibia when they have good rains. The system was built between 1974 and 1979 and can transmit 1920 megawatts at a voltage level of 533 kilovolts DC and 1800 Amperes.[1] Thyristor valves are used, which unlike most other HVDC schemes are mounted outdoors and not in a valve hall. The valves are grouped into eight, 133 kV six-pulse bridges in series at each end. The 1,420 kilometres (880 mi) long powerline runs through inaccessible terrain, so it is mostly built as monopolar lines 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) apart. In case of a single line failure, transmission with reduced power is possible via the surviving pole and return through the earth.
That inverter is something to beholdSince the 80's. Not sure why people keep bringing it up like its a new thing.

We only reconnected in the 2000s, the civil war damaged infrastructure that it was only really fixed by 1998Since the 80's. Not sure why people keep bringing it up like its a new thing.
But as stated it's barely enough to power JHBUsually happens every rainfall season....
Jo'burg says thenk-yew, we'll take thatBut as stated it's barely enough to power JHBit's 200MW
Well we'd get stage 4 instead of 6Jo'burg says thenk-yew, we'll take that![]()
Still at Glen Acres? My business in Kempton Park hasn't had load shedding since Friday. True story. Sure they'll work it out soon enough though.
You know eskom is just going to change the definitions of the stages again.Well we'd get stage 4 instead of 6but anything helps, hell if we had the Kelvin station doing what it used to we'd be 2 stages down as well.
Ok thanks so 23 years then.We only reconnected in the 2000s, the civil war damaged infrastructure that it was only really fixed by 1998
Well think it was around 2007/2008 to be honestOk thanks so 23 years then.
