Hi Everybody

Don't you think this "Powerball" is a joke. I know it is like R70 million but the odds are huge against you. All it does is get more and more people to gamble away the little money they have, for that " you never know" chance. I think it should reach a certain amount and then be a guaranteed(Spelling?) give away. Eg R40 milllion. I am one of those suckers that it trying every week, so I think I am just as much to blame. What do you think?

All I want to know is, if you win the powerball are you going to complain?

Exactly!!!!

BTW I have also won the Canadian lotto, I also have some nice people who have died in the UK who have donated millions to me on their will without even knowing me.How lucky am I?? :)

I've won the UK, Swiss and US lottery and I still complain.......:p
:D and btween how much apple and microsoft just give away online, its a wonder they make any money.

My 2 cents - Lottery is just another term for an "Idiot Tax"

It amazes me how many people would never set foot in a casino "cos the odds are against you" but queue at a lottery outlet in hope

Anyone notice how the company who took over from the old lotto runners no longer has 5-14 people winning as often?

etwylite

I think gambling at a casino and spending 10 bucks on the lotto is very different, You have a very small chance but i can bet if you hit 10 million on the lotto you would change your tune. It is not like going to a casino and blowing 1k on the stupid machine's. With the lotto whether you buy 1 ticket or 10000 you have the same chance if you ask me :D

Oh and I forgot, the Nigerian Investigation for 419 scams has also compensated me millions for being on a scam list. lol

killadoob - i understand that R10.00 worth of hope and dreams probably goes along way for some people and "no ticket no chance" is the old adage.

all i meant was betting on red at roulette is 2 to 1 odds vs 70 000 000 to 1 on powerball.

but good luck to all anyway..

You know lotto is an acronym right?

Lose Often To Terrible Odds :D

Doesn't stop me from playing though, just started spending about R100 a week on UK/Euro lottery tickets, that's where the real money is :D

No i hear you but you go put your 10 rand on red and you win back 10 rand then you go another 10 rand on black and you lose back to 10 rand, then you put it on red again and it lands on white :D, bam finished.

For 10 bucks you have more chance to become rich over night than you do playing red/black at a casino :D. The odds of turning that 10 into millions are trillions to 1. I don't play lotto because i used to see to 5-14 people winning and thought WTF?

Not really true ;). There are a finite number of combinations on Powerball, so the more combinations you choose, the greater the chance of winning. It's elementary mathematics ;). Your statement would only be true if you pick the same combination 1000 times :p

Not quite! It's actually 2.111 to 1 - always favours the house, right?

Heck in the last draw 4 people won R700K each. That would pay for a nice vacation and pay off my bond. I'd be very happy with that

oo R70 million, I'm in!

I don't play lottery, but had to as soon as it hit the 60 mil mark - I won a huge r9 bucksies on Tuesday so used that for todays draw...can't wait to splurge my new R70 million, any ideas?
